  • Enhanced protection + control are a powerful combination for this level 23 Sentinel. Lock them down, and then clobber them!
After playing a lot of Sentinel recently, I've developed a much better appreciation for how fun this class can be. By focussing on Shep's control powers (Full Cryo Blast, Throw, Stasis) rather than direct damage dealing, it becomes possible to suppress enemy movement/gunfire, creating opportunities for tactical repositioning (flanking, tossing enemies out of play) or closing in with a shotgun. With the Stasis glitch this class becomes OP even on Insanity.
Although I've tested a variety of secondary protection strategies (Tech Armor + Reave or Tech Armor + Energy Drain) to increase Shep's maneuverability, in my opinion this is approach is generally not as effective as a hybrid protection/control approach (as demonstrated in this vid). This is because: 1) Assault Armor (which basically provides two shield gates), is not enhanced very much by Energy Drain (even on level 10) and 2) there is incredible synergy between Tech Armor and control powers, as you can spend your shields locking enemies down, and then maneuver and assault while the enemy is suppressed and your shields are regenerating.
This build is the fastest I've made it through the Dantius Towers, even after stopping for a quick game of Krogan dodgeball at 4:30 (on several other runs I was successful in tossing him over the edge, but sadly missed this time…)

0:35 Good presence of mind to use throw instead of running up and shooting. Killing with style and saving bullets.
1:40 Same thing here. Screw that Vanguard.
3:14 This was funny. You can just imagine the guy's internal dialogue: "No! Got... to... hold... on... Aaaaaaah!"
7:33 Throwing mercs off the build never gets old.
CQ/Assault Sentinel is so fun. And it is just insane with Stasis.
