- Welcome to Naval Action - Getting started on the Caribbean Server. In this video I'll be beginning a new career in Naval Action ahead of the upcoming major update. Setting up an outpost, passenger missions, and exploration will be the goals for today. Basic combat will be addressed in a follow up video.

Cheers KairoS! I'm glad to see you still doing videos on NA! I had dropped off the game after the F2P update, being discouraged to restart everything again on the Caribbean Server. But, with the new update coming and your video, I'm definitely diving back in! The Sea's calling! Hopefully we'll cross paths, either as friend or foe! =)

Yeah that''s what it reminds me of. I have been looking for a game like that for along time. I think you could sail with AI ships in your fleet also. I liked how you could go explore land ares and dungeons in that game too.

The Dutch weren't the biggest but they punched way above their weight. They also had of of the biggest trade fleets sailing around so they'd be one of the most common sightings.
The Dutch had Around 2.7k ships in 1680s a bit before the time period of the game but still a lot for the time period
I mean, the game does not have a huge player base so fewer nations does make sense. Otherwise the nations with the smallest amount of players, would never have the chance to do clan battles and port battles. So fewer nations would definitely good for all players to have a chance to try these things out

I am intersted in this game but it seems so hard to grasp I haven't played yet but maybe this weekend I'll try it out.
My gpu started to deteriorate a few days before i stopped playing Naval Action, but now that I want to get back into it my gpu is not powerful enough anymore to run it which is a bummer. I hope i can get that sorted and play again soon
Was naval action the cause for deterioration or did I read that wrong
@@LowryYT no my gpu was already failing over time, although now that i think about it Naval Action could have put some more stress on it lmao
That's a shame, I had my older gaming PC due on me recently too. I lost a lot of saves from some of my older gaming series, which is a pity.

I started recently and have avoided any hunters quite easily , found a wreck also . I don't understand the idea of the wipes , I like to keep what I spend my time getting.
They are probably trying to promote DLC ships.

I've just done my first passenger voyage and it struck me right when I started sailing in open world, that we're missing sound here. Having done the tutorial, with nice sound, it is so bad to join open world and hear only a bit of background sound. This is such a wasted opportunity, because we spend in open world so much time and the sound is really really good. Just copy and paste it to this mode. This is probably a deal breaker for me, unless we have some kind of mods that fix that?
If there's something more to do while voyaging will be more interesting . Some skill training etc
Trying to get back into it, I played a lot back in 2016 or so and it was just a lot of pvp fun, now it's just empty worlds and safe zones everywhere, I don't get it.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. You can always claim a new basic brig if you get sunk

What’s a good xp method for the ships I have which are:trincamolle and a surprise which basicly are my best ships
The best way to level up any ship is to sink AI that are a similar size or larger than you. So target only other 5th rates and above if you want to level fast.

As a sailor and not a naval action player… I wish the sailing mechanics irl would even be half as nice as naval action when sailing upwinh
Nice to get a real sailor's perspective. My knowledge is only academic, but you're definitely right that real ships would not be nearly so forgiving as they are in game.
What do you do man? I would love to learn how to sail irl.

really wanted to play the game so i downloaded it just to get stuck in the loading screen for 45 minutes :/ i just gave up and now im sad

I agree with that. I'd also add the Americans to balance it out, and that would be enough nations I think
Why does my open world camera not move like that? I can only see the side of my ship and moving my cursor only moves my cursor, not my camera angle
There should be a key somewhere you can hold to look around. I had mine set to one of the side mouse buttons, so you might have to check your key bindings in settings.

Have the PvE and PvP servers been merged, or why are there 'PvE zones'?
I'm interested in getting the free to play version, but I am wondering which ships does the free to play come with?
Every player has access to the Basic Brig for free right from the start. This brig can be reclaimed for free no matter how many times you get sunk, and it does not require resources to repair. You also get a single Cerberus as a reward for finishing the tutorials. All other ships can be crafted or captured by anyone, except the DLCs ships which you buy with real money
@@kairos4486 I thought that I read that they did away with the loot for passing the final exam. Pretty sure I saw that. Kind of stupid being that they want to attract new players.

I'm afraid I don't know about that, sorry. But what I do know is that PVE zones are supposedly coming to the Caribbean server sometime this month.
Did that take out the majority of the nations? I wanted to start an American chacter, but the option isn't available.
Sadly yes, there are only four nations that survived the switch to F2P.

No the old servers are more or less dead now. And they're closed to people who did not get the game before it went free to play
The peace server is great but not everyone can access it. There needs to be a global map full of every country around the world.
I can't even get passed the gunnery tutorial? Keep hitting that damn mast but it won't come down...only just downloaded the game and I'm on the open world map

Yes, all DLC ships should still be redeemable regardless of when they were acquired.
I hate that they are now starting you at the 6th rate... i guess 7th rates are now practically obsolete :(

I'm pretty sure the same developers made a similar game that's single player. I think it's called "Age of Sail".
Hello! I'm having problems with NA recently, I'm trying to enter the open world to transport passengers, however, the game asks to connect to the server, but there is no server, and every time I try to leave I end up losing everything and having to restart the game, could you help me solve it? I thank
That definitely sounds like a connection issue, but I'm not qualified in that sort of thing I'm afraid, and I've never had that problem myself. Best I can do is suggest you send a message on the discussion page on Steam, or else try to get on the Naval Action Official Discord to get the issue resolved.

Had 700+ hours in the sim. Enjoyed it...but too many wipes so uninstalled. Developers are strange how they run this game.
Yeah, I imagine they lose players every time they wipe the server. It's a dang shame.

this is your getting started video, i find it funny how dull down it has become, and easy... i was in there day 2 steam relase, no protractor, no guides, no noting... my getting started was little bit more amuzing than this generic NPC stuff
