  • The flood situation in Assam remains dire as rising waters continue to wreak havoc across the state. Floodwaters in the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve have inundated large areas, putting wildlife, including one-horned rhinoceroses, Bengal tigers, and Asian elephants, under severe distress. The park, which spans Darrang and Sonitpur districts, has been closed to visitors due to the flooding.
Pradipt Barua, District Forest Officer of Mangaldai Wildlife Division, reported that 20 camps are submerged, and captive elephants have been relocated to safer areas. "We were already prepared for the flood and have country, machine, and speed boats ready for such situations," Barua stated. The park authorities have also arranged to ensure a continuous supply of essentials to their staff.

I don't know. This happens every year and it's getting worse thanks to global warming, yet no solution is in sight apparently

Big news wld be results of action taken to minimize the damage to humans & animals in such situations. Else its just a repeat of the same news of floods in Assam year after year ----- expected & nothing new .
