  • This arial view of the entire Palos Verdes Coastline is meant to be entertaining and informative. Riding along in the fake helicopter are Palos Verdes icon Jason Buck who is life long PV resident. Jason is also a reals estate agent who has been teaches an amazing class to other agents about the Palos Verdes Peninsula including all its cities of Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates and the unincorporated area known as PVP. Jason is also a lifelong surfer although I better than him and talented musician currently playing in a band called Wall of Sound that play Grateful Dead shows in their entirety.
Along with Jason we have local legend Joe Cocke flying with us. Joe is a paleontologist who knows the geology and fossils of the peninsula better than anyone. He currently works with the PV Interpretive Center and is responsible for many of the rears fossils on display there. He main job back in the days was working for the LA County Museum. Joe also gives informative a speeches about the rock formations and fossils of the Palos Verdes Peninsula from time to time. You can buy Joe’s book “Fossils of the Palos Verdes Hills@ on Amazon or better yet pick it up at the Palos Verdes Interpretive Center.
The ride takes us from Rat Beach, past Bluff Cove and Lunada Bay in PV Estates to The Rancho Palos Verdes Coastline where we fly past the Pt Vicente lighthouse, The Terranea resort, Abalone Cove the Portuguese Bend landslide area and more. This coastline is some of the best in all of California and fun to look at.

That was a fabulous visual and historical tour of the Palos Verdes coastline. Thank you to my fellow RE/MAX Estate Properties colleagues. Great job! Merci beaucoup for sharing it with me. Fun to see the photo of PBC before the slide wiped away the clubhouse, pool and pier. I feel very lucky to live in such a special place.

As a kid, I used to pedal my bike to Flat Rock with a handlebar Wire basket on the front and bring back Opal Eye perch and Sculpins, Sea Urchins and Anenomes in a covered bucket for my homemade Salt Water tank. 1965-ish i suppose.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Really fun to see that beautiful coastline from a different point of view. My mom's place was just a bit further down (Palos Verdes Shores). Lots of great memories of walks at Terranea, tea at the golf course, and more.

It was good to see your footage. I grew up in an area on the other side of the hill in Westfield. In the summer of 1977, I lived on Sacreds. 9 months we lived there. It was the best time of my life. Thank you. It was nice to reminisce. And, yes, Smugglers Cove (where Sacred Beach is located) was frequently used to bring in bootleg back in the 20's and 30's.

Great. OK do you know what the South American looking rock aqueduct looking thing in the cliff next to Torrance Beach IS?
Didn't remember the big landslide was due to a broken water main.

@@danmullin i grew up there - Portuguese Bend until I was 11, then "upper" Abalone Cove until I was 18. So different now.
