The first time i heard this song it was 1985 and I was sitting at a bar in Waikiki called Moose McGillycuddys. Everyone was rocking out to it. Good times.
Slick & Rocker, seen them both live not together. Slick with DB & Rocker with Stray Cats. awesome musicians. Earl Slick wrote the riffs for golden years & Stay from Station to Station & played on entire album. one of DB's best.
Also rumoured that Earl was responsible for the "Rebel Rebel" riff, although DB claimed he played it himself. I think it has Slick all over over it. Ronson and Slick made Bowie a rock star.
FORGET speed demons and shredding a bunch of nothing. There are a few tone rich, riff writing masters that are the epitome of Cool. Guys like Earl Slick, Link Ray, Billy Duffy, Paul Kossoff, Ace Frehley, and George Thorogood. Tone, Additude, Style, Coolness, and Catchy Riffs. THAT'S ROCK AND ROLL BABY! Comment on more.
That was badass....I was a young teenager when this song came out and always loved it. I thought this was a great band that should have gone further. Great to see Lee and Earl jamming together. Would have loved to see that show in person.
I just saw Lee Rocker and his Band at the Rockabilly Music Festival in Lake Havasu and they were really stupendous! I never expected a show that good see them if you can for sure!
I've watched this so many times it's not funny. Earl Slick is ridiculously good and it hurts me to see some of the audience there who have no idea. They must be dead from the neck up.
Was around during the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's listening to popular music during those eras yet never heard of these guys until tonight when I heard this song tonight on a radio that plays really vague 80's stuff. Like this song a lot.
As a guitarist for almost 30 years I am ashamed of never having heard of this guy- Earl Slick! Only heard of him thru now reading his biography on audible. I always thought Mick Ronson was David Bowie's guitarist and now find out he was his guitarist as of 1975. He is italian too just like so many famous guitarists.
I'm a little late for Christmas. Happy New Year. Just the way you play this. I apologize, I don't know your name. I fell in love with this song when I was in The Marine Corp in Beautiful Southern California. I love you today. I don't just love you today. I love you always. 1980 till 1984 .
P90's on that guitar...surprised btw...and yeah, I saw Phantom Rocker & Slick at The Ritz back in the day...didn't realize that Lee Rocker was my age, which means he was still in his teens in the Stray Cat days...
My Tiny Terror overdriven hot as hell with all kinds of grit... the first thing I do at a gig is place whatever amp I'm using and turn it on to warm up while setting everything else up... and yes, I play small bar gigs and it's plenty fucking loud.
Orange amps. Ive owned my Ad 30 combo since 06. She's heavy and I don't like the tone until I get her in a live setting. Then you find out...this bitch will cut through the mix like a juggernaut.
Man, what happened to Lee??? His vocals are so bad, I feel embarrassed for him.... I have this album, I love the song, but wow...... Lee,,,,, I don't know what to say. I wish I'd never seen this.
Sad.... I really was hoping to be amazed. Early Slick, he's a classy dude. He is involved in a lot of things around Mick Ronson's family. What a cool guy
Dont rate a guitar by is head tag. There are haar guitar's better tham fender costum (watch gregguitars). But i agree this one is not that good souding.
That songs one of the nastiest as for the guitar. Never get tired of this song
Rockers never age they just sound more bad ass!! SLICK 💪
Earl Slick is the greatest!

That is timeless
No bullshit with Slick, just classic hard rock sounds.
3 in the morning and my neighbors are either dancing or looking crabby, but I know one thing for sure, everybody is listening 😂
Rock on
Earl Slick is totally and completely badass
jfhudak agreed. Listen to "Stay" live with David Bowie.

OMG...I saw them when they were Phantom, Rocker & Slick in a little dive bar ('85,'86 maybe?) great, great band, great songs.
Freakin' Earl puttin' on a clinic! This never gets old.

I've absolutely loved this track since it came out in the 80's, it was awesome to hear this live version. Earl can really play those strings!

Pardon me while I stand and applaud!!
I saw them in a bar in DC back in '85. It was a fantastic show!
Georgetown show ? I was there !! Awesome show !! I caught Slim Jim’s drum stick. Still have it to this day !!
Slick is the Riff Master. Maybe the school of keith Richards. I had the good fortune to play guitar with him.
Slick matches his sound clothes guitar amp he has that road worn look , he has his sheeeeet together !
Fucking great looking guitarist, with great cool git skills...That dropped D makes the sound here bitch and itch...
This song rocks as much as it did back in the day and I say this as a man without shame. 😀
slick rips on this song.
Bad ass music
I love this song. It's one long Early Slick guitar solo.
Great licks from Slick.
Earl has played with so many!
I love it
thankyou
David Bowie’s
Go too guy several times ..
Watch the live version of Heroes
by DB with ES on guitar 😢😢😢😢
This f***in rocks!
They should make new album !
Jarski J. First one went platinum, second one went wood. But I agree. Maybe the third time would’ve been the charm.
Saw them in Hollywood, Ca. Brian Setzer and Jeff Skunk Baxter played 3 songs with them, great show.
Still got it
Fantastique

Great on the computer - must of been epic live!
Great this classic getting rolled out again. One of my favs :-)
You lucky SOB! Dang that was good, this song needs to be cranked again on the radios as it somehow flies under the radar everywhere??
A REALLY GREAT SONG !!!!!!!!!!!!..........WONDERFULL SOUND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I've had the Cops called to my house over this being played to loud. Ooops, they are on their way again!.
killer shit man! never knew Alice Cooper jammed a blues gig on the side... dude is legit!
Cool 👍
As cool as it gets! Love ya Earl!
earl slick man play it like it was . the way it was come on man you can do it . the real song and this is like night and day
There's a certain breed who feel the need to wear hair on their face,
Men without shaves, men without shaves.
Great playing all around, Slick is sick with his hands
超ーかっけー👌
These guys could be separate for hundreds of years.. give them a stage, instruments and its just like yesterday!!
OH YEAH

Rock the effing house!
The Earl Slick Framus, only if I win powerball.
"Real music" You want to know what real music is.......... I say no more
And i thought Keith Richards played that Lick, but it was slick with that classic timing!!
weird seeing Lee without the STAND UP BASS ahaha!
Vocals are way too dry, but otherwise really cool. Wore out my copy of this album. Great song!!!
He is paid to perform and create for the lyrics chosen via the lead rulers. He adapts for and a fine tweet to adapting for.

What model bass is using Lee Rocker?
A Hondo Longhorn
Never could work Orange amps seems like they don't naturally overdrive well...
Gotta get em hot as fire. Absolutely have to be turned on at least 30 mins before a gig. That's what I always have to do with my Ad 30 Combo
My Tiny Terror overdriven hot as hell with all kinds of grit... the first thing I do at a gig is place whatever amp I'm using and turn it on to warm up while setting everything else up... and yes, I play small bar gigs and it's plenty fucking loud.
Sounds good, vocals not as strong as when they recorded it 27 years ago lol
🍊
Anybody know what tuning Earl is using here?
Drop D
Tuning on this I’d “ drop D “
Orange amps. Ive owned my Ad 30 combo since 06. She's heavy and I don't like the tone until I get her in a live setting. Then you find out...this bitch will cut through the mix like a juggernaut.
Earl's got a Kevin Bacon vibe going

Sweet guitar but my guts dropped out of my ass when I discovered the price.
Gee Earl, Jim's playing with his fingers and you're not throwing a fit! When did you finally get enlightened.

Age is part of it but also no backing vocals like the original song, he's by himself so no harmony.
Well, this video sucked...
