I could listen to this legend all day. What a great bloke, and an incredible angler. World class. Will, Jamie Hughes, Andy Bennett, Andy Power amongst a few others all deserve to be up there amougest well known sportsman in this country. Fishing is the biggest participation sport in this country and the best anglers should be recognised.
Best podcast by far! Can literally feel Wills passion and desire to be the top of his game, had everything excitement, emotion and provided so much information. Matt you are a great interviewer and team Guru deserve so much credit for not pushing products and delivering top quality television! 🤩
WOW,WOW,there are anglers, then there is Will Raison.I come from the heartland of England anglers.Alan,Tommy Dennis etc all live near me,their achievements are awesome but this guy takes it to another level.Hey Matt, you have had Tommy and Will on the podcast, get Alan to do one too please.
Totally agree with Will about the World Championships. So disappointing how the media and industry have turned their back on what is the pinnacle of match fishing for the lure of the big money domestic events. Really hope that somebody can help regenerate it and give it back the credibility and publicity it deserves.
100% agree Wayne. I’m almost tempted to learn how to film properly and go and cover it myself next time! What a trip that would be. Lots of different and interesting angles / approaches that could be taken.
@@deanluker9635 When we were growing up Dean the World’s was the absolute top of the tree, and still is for me, and all our dreams and aspirations were based around it. Names like Marks, Ashurst, White, Pickering, Nudd, Gardner to name but a few were the icons of the sport. We had no social media back then and I can remember grabbing the Angling Times and Anglers Mail as soon as they were issued and turning straight to the results pages to see how England had done. Me and Richard Chave even went to the 1990 championships in Yugoslavia on the River Drava to witness Bob Nudd win his first individual title. The fishing was rock hard but the memory will live with me forever. While I admire and respect anyone that wins Fish O, Match This etc. and appreciate what those competitions have done for the domestic scene, they still, imo, have no comparison to the Worlds. Let’s just hope someone can take it, publicity wise, back to where it belongs and give the England team the respect, backing and coverage they deserve!
Just noticed that 4 people have put a thumbs down for the podcast. What is wrong with these people?. I could easily listen to another 4 hours with Will Raison no problem.
A brilliant podcast from Mr Niceguy, no arrogance, feet firmly on the ground and always happy to give advice. I fully support his comments on the match scene about coverage and the way matches seem to becoming less and less. I can't remember the last time I fished a 100 plus peg match. Well done to #GURU for another top interview.
Robbie Gaiger Bloody awesome Will your an inspiration to us not so good anglers cant believe your commitment and dedication to the sport you love TOP ANGLER AND TOP PERSON what a combination.
Fantastic episode, an insight into part of the angling world that many of us would never see. Would love to see and hear Des Shipp and Alan Scotthorne.
Absolute class act this man he’s forgot what most know about fishing , this was a fantastic watch! It’s great to finally hear a decent length interview with him, reminds me angling wise Of scotthorne in the fact he could turn his hand to any style of fishing on any stage .
Awesome. The level of selfless commitment, passion and dedication to his craft is something I will only ever be able to aspire to emulate...really really enjoyed watching this 👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you
Loving these. The fact it’s not just Guru backed anglers on here and other company’s will allow there anglers to come on and just chat shit and fishing love it 👌🏻
That was an absolutely wonderful interview Matt and could we have part two please? Will is such a passionate and pure angler and I hope that he keeps on doing what he loves best for many years to come.
What a fantastic podcast! Still catching up on these and want to watch/listen to all of them! Well done to everyone at Guru for all your input, please please keep them going! How sad it is when I hear about the England team not getting coverage/credit where it’s due, you only have to listen to Wills passion to see how much it means for him to wear the 3 lions on his chest! Thanks Will for your stories, I’m sure you have lots more! I could listen to them all day!
Can honestly say this has been fantastic and a true eye opener. What a class act will is and such a shame about the international scene. Well done guru and Matt 👍🏻
Took me a few goes to watch it all but it confirmed what I've always thought, there are lots of very good anglers around, there are a few very special anglers around, but the man who is at the very top is William Raison. Fished against him many times in team finals in the late 90s and early 2000s and he was the one person that commanded the greatest respect and still does.
Thank you for this video it has really opened my eyes and changed my perspective and views. The point regarding social media couldn't be anymore true. You can easily build a picture and opinion on someone without actually knowing the true facts. Thank you for been very open and honest but also showing you passion and feelings not just for the sport but young and upcoming Anglers for the future. Credit where credit is due.
That is without doubt the best podcast I've seen the the man lives and breaths fishing and one other thing the media need to get behind England its a disgrace at the moment
Will versus Matt at arm-wrestling......name your winner. Team Toby / Matt - thanks for another great guest and podcast / video. Will - thanks for being a great guest, ambassador, spokesperson, and inspiration.
I sat behind will at the browning masters at Heyford in 1996 was unreal to witness 16meter pole and if I rember correect he went through 12pints of casters and broke the record, I think it was 168lb he weighed in. I'm sure it was his pre England call up he was simply brilliant 👍
I bumped into will on the Wednesday in Hereford, I was there to fish docklow up the road but I’m from the north west I couldn’t believe how random it was with him living at gold valley so far away, I must of come across as an absolute lunatic. Hes A absolute gent and an incredible angler.
First time in my life listened to a 4h+ podcast, just brilliant. 🤘Will Raison is a legend. And so was Marcel Van Den Eynde, my all time hero! Loved the story's, keep up the good work.👏
I would rather watch international fishing. I find commercial carp puddles boring 💤 💤💤💤💤💤 and far to much of it at the moment. Natural venues for me thanks. Awesome pod cast would love to see Alan Scothorne and Steve Gardner on here that would be fantastic.
Didn’t want that to end I could listen to will talk about fishing all day 👌 you’ve got something special with this podcast especially with matt as presenter can’t wait for next one
Strange isn't it. It must be my age as I'd sooner see the World Champs than Fisho. Best bit of Fisho coverage for me was when the International match the day after.
at 3:04:30 are you talking about that carp at cudmoor what he landed in about 10 seconds i was right behind him and thought how the hell did he do that i would still be playing it now lol amazing to watch
Top pod cast ... best yet.... I’d far rather fish fir my country than compete in a fish’o final ... it’s crazy that an England team are awesome at something and there’s no coverage ... shameful !! Sport England need to step up!!!
Fantastic to listen to, the main thing I took from this is that a new look at the organisation and structure of fishing is needed and could be done with initial hard work. A more joined up approach to cover fishing at all levels so that people eyes can be on all the major events. Fishing is a huge huge sport which in terms of TV, TH-cam, maybe Twich could push areas such as the internationals, as I agree finding information on this is hard work. When you can watch a 5min clip on a rig on TH-cam and get 50k views but cannot watch Will win a world championship is poor. Gurus are pushing the envelop of youtube and access on commercial TV to fishing, this podcast success should highlight that they might want to push internationals on their platforms. Clearly people want to see it but there is just no avenues at this time to do so!! sorry the post is long
Really enjoyed that. Will could easily do 3 or 4 more shows and still have loads to talk about.
Looking forward to your turn jon 👍
Jon I was sat listening to this thinking, 'I could sit and listen to this bloke all day!' Over a few beers of course :)
I could listen to this legend all day. What a great bloke, and an incredible angler. World class. Brilliant show what an ambassador for the sport,
Will deserves every thing that he has worked for, what an angler.
Goat full stop! Absolutely loved it!
Best podcast by far! Can literally feel Wills passion and desire to be the top of his game, had everything excitement, emotion and provided so much information. Matt you are a great interviewer and team Guru deserve so much credit for not pushing products and delivering top quality television!
🤩
best podcast ever - Will Raison ( who I used to fish against every week) is mesmerising with his stories

Fantastic podcast. W.Raison England legend and alround legend
What an absolute angler this man is .........world class
What memories Will must have. What a Top bloke!
Just noticed that 4 people have put a thumbs down for the podcast.
What is wrong with these people?.
I could easily listen to another 4 hours with Will Raison no problem.
Those four tossers should be playing golf. Sooner not comment at all that do that 🙄🙄
They are all commercial anglers not tossers but the future
A brilliant podcast from Mr Niceguy, no arrogance, feet firmly on the ground and always happy to give advice. What a Lovely Man Will Raison is! Frightening Angler! Sat behind him at Cudmore at the Home Nations! Awesome Day Awesome Experience 🎣🐟🙏💥
