I am about 1 hour and 30 minutes from there. I could make him a nice place with privacy and water, electric, and propane for cooking and heating, as well as air conditioner for cooling. Mild winters here. Hot summers. Great fishing and hunting. Hispanic neighbor who does land escaping. I can help with food, medicines if he gets sick.

I give him props for actually cleaning up the area! A lot of homeless people leave virtual garbage dumps behind them, but not this guy!
I give him credit for keeping his and the little shopping center clean. The others are not thinking about being good neighbors to the neighborhood. Just because you are living in a tent doesn't mean you should be a pig! Keep your area clean and drama- free and nobody will bother your encampment. Homelessness is not a surprise to anyone in California. We get it! Just do the best you can with what you got (be clean!) keeping yourself neighborhood friendly.

When my son's father died, I lost everything; my baby and I lived in my car for almost a year until I saved enough money to rent a little garage. It's been a few years since and eventually I purchased our little trailer all on my own Perhaps because I was homeless I can empathize. I certainly don't expect everyone to see life through my eyes. This reminded me of a friend who was a clean freak. She would say that if she was homeless and lived under a tree without grass that it would be the cleanest dirt because she would constantly sweep her dirt.

If drugs CAUSED the mental illness then I would have been committed to an institution a long time ago. My brother was mentally ill and used drugs and alcohol to self medicate. Until they killed him. When your brother ends up on the streets for over ten years, and tells you all about it, then dies there you can come back here and educate us on the matter.

Update 8-23-22 Drove by last week, he has been removed. The city piled up a bunch of rocks on that hillside so that he won't come back and build again. Hopefully he was offered decent housing.
He should have dug into the hillside like a tunnel system or something like that. Maybe solar panels for hot water and electricity.also he could use a few goats and a chicken coop.

Dude i went to the store the other day in my pajamas and some lady offered me a hamburger from jack in the box. It was shocking but heartwarming. My Mom works at Lowes and has a homeless friend who no one would ever guess was homeless. Guy is always cleaned and groomed to the 9👌

It also is big business, the millions of dollars that float around governments, social services, churches, not for profits, etc.
Think about this, if agencies fixed the homeless problem, they'd put themselves out of business. Our US government also helps create this issue. If you become disabled on average it takes Social Security 2 years (not to mention you paying for a lawyer out of your back benefit) to start getting your Disability Benefits you worked for.
