Do you think there will ever be a moment in Chris's life where he actually takes accountability for any of the actions he's done? Nah, she's a big issue on why he's so insane. He was never in the wrong. Bob was legit one of the few people who cared and loved about Chris enough to try and get him out there, and it only fell short because Chris was too stuck in his ways and Bob was too old to understand the scope of things. Chris is a one-of-a-kind enigma. To answer the Sonic Lore issue with regards to the planet the story is set on... is a lot more complicated that it should be, and also really stupid. Back when the games were first made in Japan, the lore was that they were set on Earth, Sonic was born on Christmas Island, etcetera. When they were translated to English, both America and Europe replaced Earth with a fictional world, entirely populated by animal-people, called Mobius. In the American media it was kind of vague where the few human characters came from and whether Earth was a thing, but in the UK comics and associated media, Earth was another world that pre-evil Robotnik accidentally blundered from. Then Sonic Adventure came out, and flipped everything on its head by having a story and cutscenes with dialogue. SEGA of America were no longer able to make up their own lore whole-cloth with it actually existing in the game itself now. From then on, most media used Earth as the main setting. Man, when I first discovered Chris Chan, he was on a mission to find his boyfriend-free girlfriend. Everything was still grounded to reality and I could at least understand his aspirations. But now... I could never have imagined we'd be here, because it is simply beyond my own imagination.

You say failure but what does he have to lose at this point? How much lower can he possibly sink? Playing to the crowd is the only thing he has left. His extended family isn’t going to support him. They turned him away which is why he was in the motel. I don’t think he has the capability to grow as a person even with significant psychological help.
His life is most likely going to get significantly worse. At best he’ll be institutionalized. At worst he’ll spend several years in jail and become homeless after release. He might as well milk this while he’s a caged curiosity.

This anime honestly jumped the shark a while ago. Its nowhere near believable anymore and hasn't been for years. I havent really even watched in a while i just check in on the characters and see what direction the writers are taking it but its not been entertaining since liquid chris quit.

His work stopped being “family friendly” years ago.

To answer the Sonic Lore issue with regards to the planet the story is set on... is a lot more complicated that it should be, and also really stupid.
Back when the games were first made in Japan, the lore was that they were set on Earth, Sonic was born on Christmas Island, etcetera. When they were translated to English, both America and Europe replaced Earth with a fictional world, entirely populated by animal-people, called Mobius. In the American media it was kind of vague where the few human characters came from and whether Earth was a thing, but in the UK comics and associated media, Earth was another world that pre-evil Robotnik accidentally blundered from.
Then Sonic Adventure came out, and flipped everything on its head by having a story and cutscenes with dialogue. SEGA of America were no longer able to make up their own lore whole-cloth with it actually existing in the game itself now. From then on, most media used Earth as the main setting. The Archie comic was, by then, the last piece of American media still running, and it split the difference by introducing more human characters and establishing that Mobius _was_ Earth, just in the future and after an apocalypse that killed most of the humans and created a vacuum for the newly-evolved animal people to fill.
The 2004 Sonic X anime split the difference, depicting Sonic and co. being from their own world, but being transported to near-future Japan by Chaos Control. I say near-future because most of what's there looks like modern technology, but they have futuristic planes and the cops drive F1 cars. A similar setup was used for the Sonic movie, which switched out near-future Japan for modern America.
More recently, SEGA has begun endorsing this two-worlds setup, and comic scribe Ian Flynn claims that it's actually been the rule since Sonic Adventure came out, but none of the games produced before the 2010s really support that, including Sonic Adventure, which features the ruins of the ancient echidna civilisation on Earth. Also the world Sonic and co. are from has never been given a name, even though Mobius is right there, because SEGA of Japan are violently allergic to admitting that SEGA of America had a good idea. It's just called "Sonic's World."
