    I am totally in love with Volvo in general, but after the old XC90 models, the XC40 with its Mustang front look, the gorgeous rear look and safety, confort, colors, elegance, style, is just the one and only car with that X factor and so nice for tall girls on heels

    Nice review, as an owner of one I agreed with almost all of it! Whilst I'm not an advocate of that shifter design, the double tap to shift from drive to reverse and vice versa in normal use is an overstated issue. It becomes perfectly intuitive to use very quickly once it's your daily driver - it's a complete non-issue for me anyway. There are two other things that are issues though. 1) the side to side semi auto shifting is terrible if you want to control the shifts yourself. Unless it has paddles (in the UK paddles are no longer available), then just forget it if you want to drive this semi automatically. 2) the shifter is easy to knock accidentally. My coat sleeve caught on it whilst reaching for a sweet in the centre console storage area just beyond it, and plonked the car into neutral at 60mph. Not ideal in itself, but you're then just one accidetal click away from disaster - putting it into reverse at 60mph!

    • @Reoniz
      @Reoniz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you! I believe what you’re saying about the shifter, I had to mention it nonetheless ... I can’t believe I hadn’t heard more about it until I experienced it!!
      Regarding the two issues you mentioned, I’m not sure if any US cars get paddle shifters, assuming that if a top of the line T5 R-Design doesn’t, than what model does lol
      Believe or not, the issue with the car going into neutral while moving at high speed and you accidentally bumping the shifter can happen in just about any high end car with a similar shifter design (BMW, Audi, even some Dodges) but all of them, including your Volvo, should lock reverse out once your moving at any significant speed. I’m not encouraging you to try this out, but I’d imagine that even if you tried to put the car into reverse at say 60mph, the car shouldn’t let you.... you could of course always get a Mercedes with a column mounted shifter... but what’s the fun in that 😂😂

    Beat looking SUV out there i think. At least from exterior aesthetic. Way better looking that outdated Q3 & Q5 and no competition between it and X3 & X4.

    Test drove the R Design... It was nice and the inside is classy... But went with the Mazda CX-5 Signature edition because it has more HP... More torque... And more tech features for about $10,000 less.

      @@Reoniz Do it. Make sure you get the Signature series with the brown Nappa leather, if you have any say in the matter. The Carbon Turbo, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature all have the same 227-250hp / 310-320 ft lb torque engine, but the Signature has all the bells and whistles. Got mine out the door at 37k. It's honestly a steal for that price when compared to all other crossovers considering you get everything you can think of besides the panoramic moonroof

      I had the Volvo XC60 T6 R-design, Polestar and it had paddle shifters. I never used them bt my husband and son did. Thinking of getting the XC40 next. Our XC60 got rear-ended adn was totaled out. Sad face.

      @@Reoniz I like this car very much but I do not understand why they did not add the option to check the engine temperature to the screen - several times you will want to drive more dynamically on a cold engine and there may be a problem, especially when it comes to the diesel version
