  • I wanted to add sidewalls to the interior of my utility trailer and preserve the interior dimension. I don't have a welder, and every example I found online showed the wood sides being added to the interior of the trailer. I hope someone finds this helpful.

    I was looking for ways to do this without loosing interior space. Glad I found it. I was thinking about drilling too but based on what you said I think I will let that idea go.

    Thank you so much... I've also been looking into modifying my little trailer for my camping gear and this idea is a perfect solution to what I need for all my gear. Great idea and an easy fix for me to accomplish!

    Just finished my modification. Only took around 4 hours and I love the design. Your video was super helpful. I didn't go as high and put side up on the front and tied them into the side planks. I'd love to share pictures, but don't know how to add them to my comments. Any ideas?

    Thanks so much, I've been looking for a solution that doesn't require welding and allows something removable in the random event I need to carry something oversized

    Looks great! I am looking at something a little lighter duty for my 4’x2’ utility cart. That removable tie in front is amazing! I could see you connecting the rear of the sides to the ramp, if it needed to hold… what, I don’t know… but it’s looks very stout!

      It has worked out great. I don't know what I'd be hauling that would need the gate connected to the walls that wouldn't blow out the whole trailer. If I filled it with that much mulch it would probably just bend the axles. Be sure to check out the follow-up video too. Thanks

    • @DFSqu
      @DFSqu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I made a second video showing how it's loaded and talking about how it is holding up. Spoiler, it's holding up very well. The bolts needed to be tightened, but otherwise it's doing great.

    Is there some trick to NOT burning through your drill bits or damaging your drill when you make the holes in metal?
    I haven't done very much with metal, but even when I work on normal lumber its surprising that you can have trouble with drill bits :S. I'd hope to not burn through any if it can be avoided.

      Quality drill bits and keeping them cool helps.

    Do you think a person could live in this trailer? The reason I ask is because I’d like to build this for my boyfriend to sleep in in my driveway. He snores and it would be nice to have him sleep in a different structure.

      I did this more than a year ago, before wood prices exploded. I don't remember exactly what I spent. I think it was around $100 usd.

    • @DFSqu
      @DFSqu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had to tighten all the nuts this spring because the wood shrank a little. I also added some more loops. Nothing major.
      I'll make a follow up video soon.
