NPH has a career in musical theatre (Broadway). Timing and rhythm are just as much a part of his soul as any classical musician. Al I see is a sheet music composition and a metronome.

I feel like Barney is the true "hero" of how I met your mother. When we first met him he was a womanizer with commitment issues but especially through Robin and him we saw him opening up to the idea of a relationship and we even saw him in several serious ones. I know Ted is supposed to be the protagonist but I don't think Barney and him are so different. Barney should've ended up with Robin imo or at least neither of Ted and Barney. I don't think it's what Robin would've wanted anyways (but Barney would've been the better match)
I always thought that Ted telling his kids that Marshal was his best friend was just him trying to say he was the nice guy and Barney was a dog, even though he loved all the things he did. If there was a true version to this I always thought it was Ted and his best friend Barney chasing girls together.

For all the comments joking about how Ted takes 9 seasons to tell the story, they did give an in-universe explanation for why he tells his kids the long story. His own parents (season 2) never told him anything about their relationship, and they divorced without him even knowing, so he promised that he would tell his kids everything about how he met their mother, as he didn't want to be like his own parents.
Ted is pretty lame though. Even though most people rooted for him he is a built frustrating character on purpose so the fans love him while hating him. I just didn’t find a reason to like him at all, like a lot of people here. But a controversial opinion I have is that I dislike robin. Or he felt Robin abandoned him, because we know that he has serious abandonment issues as shown by the first episode where his father comes back, and just ignored the details while he was angry and getting over it. Or the writers were just lazy and forgot
