    Giving you a comment. I notice you have a brand. I notice Greg Judy does not brand his cattle. I asked him about rustlers, he is not worried. I would defend myself against rustling, though I'm not sure how. I don't have any part of my future ruminant herd operational yet.

      We do have a brand it is the only registered brand in my county. The brand has to be registered at the courthouse. They didn't know what to do. For the most part I don't worry about cattle rustling. My farm is small enough that I know everything coming and going. Thanks For watching!!

    Good quality audio and video. Lots of canary grass in the low areas around me.

    Thanks Russ! I know this is an older video but thought I’d ask about your camera switch. It looks to me like you went from a GoPro max to an Insta 360?
    How have you liked that? I’m looking at getting a 360 camera and leaning toward the Insta line.
    Thanks for showing your stockpile. It’s helpful to be able to look at what you’re grazing and compare it to what mine looks like. I’m still doing my first pass over neglected pasture that I am reclaiming. There’s a lot of mature stuff and blackberries, etc., but still a decent amount of grass at the bottom of it all. It’s fun to watch the healing process and see the pasture take on a new life.

    It seems my animals will eat canary grass that is hay bales but I haven’t grazed it yet. I have one patch of it so thick that you can barely walk in it. It’s 6-7 feet tall. The reason I haven’t grazed it yet I need to build fence around that area. I’m hoping do to that this coming spring/summer. Thanks again for all your videos!

    The camera seems to pick up detail better. The cows have such shiny coats. I never considered that animals had preferences for the food they eat, at least not to the point that they turned their noses up.

    • @RussWilson

      Cows can be picky eaters.

    Great video Russ. I thought audio and visual on camera was very good. I hope you do more videos about stockpiling for us newbies. How do you plan for stockpiling ie how many animal units this field will handle for how many days etc.

    Do sheep tolerate the alkaloids of canary grass better than cattle or is it only tannins sheep tolerate better? Come to think of it, sheep like buttercup which is high in alkaloids. So we're back to just the question of specifically liking canary grass.

    • @RussWilson
      @RussWilson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think sheep can tolerate a lot more than more most of the livestock other than goats. Thanks for watching!!!

    Hey Russ, seeing the trail to/from the hydrant... thinking about that solar pump you made recently... wondering if there was a way to utilize that around these fields to give you some flexibility in your water source? Grate video quality. Thanks for sharing ☀️

    Russ....all the miles of wire you run. What do you run for a charger? Ac/Dc/solar an most of all how many Joules?? Thank you

    • @RussWilson
      @RussWilson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We use a stafix ac 36 joule fencer. We used use a 16 joule but it wasn't enough to keep sheep in.

    Is it intentional that often park your ATV in front of your gate, forcing the cattle to walk around it to get into the next paddock?

    • @RussWilson
      @RussWilson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do put my atv in the way sometimes to help with flow of the livestock.

    I think the audio and video is fine. Seems like you learned the editing fairly quickly. One quick question, you may have answered this in a previous video, but I haven't found it if you had. What is the main bloodline or breed of your cows? Thanks.
