      True, not saying blacks play the victim with race but there very touchy around the subject, like yes slavery happened but anyone who’s under the age of 50 at least has not felt that same sort of pain, I understand racism still exists and it must be shit to deal with but don’t talk like other races don’t understand how it must feel there 2 different types of racism that the people of that generation went through it’s disrespectful to compare I think 🤔 💭

    If you chose sides when you watched this, then youre the problem. It means you see color instead of seeing them as a person, and you missed the whole point of the video. You say it was deep but clearly chose sides.

    • @Zainiology

      Nah the point of the video is not to stop seeing color. The point is we should talk to each other.

    • @RavenMacy
      @RavenMacy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We SHOULD see race and differences and clear the air , talk it through , this don't say anything is not working , it just means the barriers and misunderstandings are hidden not eliminated , say how you feel and why you feel a certain way and maybe someone else will have a different side , open your mind , we are all the same we are also all different, lets enbrace that instead of pretending it doesn't exist. I don't usually comment but this is totally what the song/artist is trying to convey. Peace ✌

    • @Esonar

    • @arczero1623

      Naw taking sides as a gut reaction isn't the problem (if you're saying only agreeing with one side and saying the other one is racist and ignorant, then yeah I agree that makes someone part of the problem). Joyner gives us a side to relate to but then we hear some truth on each side and some racism on each side (both say you're blaming anyone but you're own race or that they're not racist). By the end of the video he wants you to see that both are twisted and we need to get past a lot of that.
      Skin is just one part of us, we have so much more in common than we do different.

    What I love about this is the two sides in the video are the stereotypical view of racists on both sides. Not hearing, but thinking they know everything about the other. To be honest. Dude you ruined the mystique of the video before you even played it. You told your mom that Joyner wasn't in the video. So she already knew that the white guy wasn't rapping. The whole point was to anger you then grab you in the end. Because most people would be under the impression that was white guy speaking in the beginning until it all came together. But the fact that you told her Joyner wasn't in it, you took that perspective away from your mom. Just saying.

    Yeah, I stopped immediately after her smiling and approving of reaction to smacking off the white dude's hat like some kind of payback to today's generation; today's civility.
    And this is why the pettiness continues when she isn't involved with people far along in the evolvement are beyond this. Your mom doesn't appear to be that old but still immediately perpetuates (or doesn't degate) the real message behind the video.
    I had hopes she would give a response that was based on "constructive feedback" - giving explanation that wasn't superlative but that's not what she did. Instead she bought into her opinion that 1) contrasted the intent of the song and its purpose, and 2) propagates a singular side of the subject.

    • @andrendenum1
      @andrendenum1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Sergiodg2q3 or Sergio2q3 for gaming I was voicing my reaction to a reaction. My comments were mere opinions. My only request for constructive feedback is that I would hope people to go into a "first reaction" on a subject that has clearly two differentiated sides, to go from a viewtake that should be unbiased until the end and then making a clear, focused reaction opinionated to the other side without objectively hearing both sides then making a constructive and intuitive response.

    Just so yall know there were white slaves, they were called "christian" under the code of law at the time, also the first man to be ruled to own another man in the court of law was a black man. There ARE two sides to a coin and it has nothing to do with "race" we are all of the human race just different ethnicities and cultures. Those in power want us to fight amongst each other so that the masses are easy to control. BTW when i say all lives matter it isnt against the black lives matter movement it is to say that we all matter and that we should be at peace with each other and not fighting. If we all sat down and had a peaceful chat I am pretty sure the majority would come to the conclusion that it is the ones in power that are creating this strife.

    The point of the song and video is that both "characters" who were portrayed ,were spouting facts, stereotypes and extremes , were judging each other based off those criteria,instead of who the person actually is. It's saying we all come.from.different backgrounds, have different histories, and have different cultures, yet we are all human. You need to get to know a person before you judge them and before you believe the stereotypes and extremes that are out there. By siding with one character or the other, you are proving exactly what divides us as human.

    I want to say something here. I grew up as the only white family in a black neighborhood. I had black friends, Latino friends Asian, etc. my 2 bests growing up were black. Did I think of it in terms of, “oh yes. My best friend is a southwest BLACK baptist?” Hell no. They were my friends and I didn’t give 2 shits about color. BUT! Although I grew up in a black community, I have never and will NEVER make the claim that I know all about the black community. As a white person, there is NO way for any white person to make that kind of claim. I’ve been to black churches, black weddings, funerals, barbecues, dinner, black clubs. I know how it felt to be other, even though I wasn’t treated any different than anyone else. How would it feel the other way around? To be the only black in a white persons world. I bet it’s scary. These are folks who have in the past hung your daddy on your front lawn. Folks who whipped you for not moving fast enough. Who spit on you, threw rocks at you and your babies. My family wasn’t American a generation back. We are from Hungary. But that doesn’t matter does it? Look all I’m saying is we do need to be mindful of where the hurt and pain come from in the black community. Understand and make damn sure it never comes here again. The world as a whole need to also understand that in Africa it is going on RIGHT NOW! Why is nobody helping these people? Good God! ✌️

    The two men are characters that represent what each side sees the 'other' as and if the 'other' isn't you, you can dehumanize them en mass as a stereotype.

    • @xDoomfirex
      @xDoomfirex 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      whatifiwasabunny I never denied any of that(that other countries have less of a problem)? Also what part of what I said isn't my own thoughts they are my own thoughts I know a lot of people that say that they're not characters and that's what they are the ment represent the extremes of both sides the video is meant to help no one's perfect I guess. But it's trying to show the people only see a stereotype instead of trying to see that what they're yelling at her complaining about is a character for both sides and not saying one side's more right than the other.

    Not choosing sides of course. Most amazing music video in my opinion. But theres a secret message in there. The white dude screamed and yelled but never did anything physically. But when the black dude was rapping he slapped his hat off and flipped the table.

    how does african slavery reflect american white and black relationship, african slavery has been there long before the formation of the US and it's black on black

    • @kefkahkefkah
      @kefkahkefkah 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Chattel slavery existed in america. And after that Jim Crow laws. If you cant see how it affects the race situation today i think you are to stupid to get it. Btw slavery still exists in africa, and its not "black on black", its yoruba on dinka, or sudanese on bantu, or somali arabs on bantu, you know they dont all identify as the same people?. Btw the Dahmey slave trade took on a vaster role from tribal raidings when the market blew up and the need for imported slaves was at its highest.

      Um because slavery was in America and after it ended Jim Crow happened and ended in just the 60s. So yeah it has a lot to do with the black and white relationship

    Right off the start i am a privileged white male (22) and i agree and am on your and most peoples view no matter color theres a problem but your mom right off the bat says”he looks racist” thats the same judgement you two are talking about when he starts speaking.i feel you on all of it theres anger and hate on this subject.thats the great thing about this song and its amazing but its all ignorant.it raises a conversation that needs to be had but there really isnt any form of racism in mine and yours generation.there are more opportunities for people of different ethnicity and race in colleges,big companies you name it.there is real oppression in this country but there are also too many handouts to all people not any race specific.everyone needs to just get a damn job if you’re not happy or go to school to get a piece of paper that says you made it to have a better quality of life. Were all fighting the system i just wish we fought the system together

    I love this song 💚💚 The one thing that bothers me when I see it is the ABSOLUTELY not ok use of the N word. I have my whole life hated that word. I think it’s ugly pain and simple. I need to be honest, or at least honestly ask for help/understanding. Bc I don’t understand how it is ok to condemn this white man(for the songs purpose) for saying that heinous word..but it’s in turn completely ok for the other man to call him a Cracker.
    PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO NOT MISUNDERSTAND ME
    When I was young I went to a Boys & Girls club summer camp/program every year. Being one of three white girl there I was confused at 10 why I was confronted with so much animosity by the others there. Because growing up I was told by teachers, church leaders, adults in community...and YES, of all colors.. that I was SUPPOSE to not see color and if I did I was racist. Things have chafed Carly in recent yrs. I did not grow up in any kind of homogeneous environment
    I wasn’t exposed to it being ok to say to ANY racial slur, regardless of who it was towards!
    I hope genuinely people see this is from a good place and a genuinely honest question...
    Why should it be absolutely NOT ok (which I agree with) for white man to say N word in ANY CONTEST WHATSOEVER!! Yet it’s not mentioned at all if the inverse is said about him ( ie Cracker)
    NO I AM NOT...saying either is ok! I just don’t understand how under the argument one is ok and the other is not.

    • @JediJMay
      @JediJMay 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I apologize I re read I realized a major issue...
      I was taught that is was NEVER OK to say ANY racial slur to anyone... I typed that wrong and it was confusing

    The majority of the white mans view is an attack on blacks while the majority of the black man’s view was a defense of the white mans verse.
    But both sides were written by the same black man. I kind of wish they either had a black rapper who wrote the black verse and a white rapper who wrote the white verse.
    Or, now that Joyner wrote a white verse, have a white guy write the black verse.
