Thank you for sharing. All these lost moments are preserved by videographers by you and by posting, you let us all enjoy the past. It's like having a rail museum at your fingertips.

I grew up in a great area for railfanning, Treampealeau, Wisconsin in the 50s 60s and 70s. Here's what was there. C&NW between LaCrosse and Winona,MN. With a depot in Trempealeau (400) branch lines, the Burlington Route (Zefer)
and occational steam (4000), to become Burlington Northern from Great Northern, then BNSF, Milwuakee Road (Hyawautha) then SOO, CP rail, and UP. With a little Greenbay & Western thrown in. Many derailments, BN line washed out in 65 Mississippi flood. A C&NW derailment right outside my bedroom window as a teen. Miss it all. Us kids were allways riding our bikes to go see the latest rail action.

The earliest ancestor of the C&NW was the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad.

Was at Proviso from 1992 to 2003……saw many changes in that time.
In 03 was moved to Milwaukee to reopen the Butler Diesel shop….retired from the UP in 2010….
wouldn’t trade my RR career for anything😎

God I miss that stuff! Very nice. 8002 is an SD60. SD50's were 7000 series numbers. I have some ond CNW VHS stuff here that I will try and post in the future. Thanks so much for sharing.. Long live the CNW!

CNW 8002 is either an SD50 and SD60. That Safety Yellow is my favorite.

I started working there in 1995, they hired me out of the Army. Man I lots of fun up there, ran over a derail in that service track. We ripped the derail out of the tie, so the manager just drug it off to the side and said get back to work.

+The Texas Gun Guy Never get away with that nowadays. Now to need a license to blink at that place. And you'd still better blink correctly.

One of the oddest things I had ever seen parked behind Jewel/Osco (at least if I remember correctly it was) was a New Haven FL-9 . It was sometime in that approximate time frame.

    C&NW WERE GOOD BY ITSELF!!!

But Union Pacific had to come to its aid after shedding some of its mileage.

THE UNION PACIFIC SHOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT C&NW!!!
