  • Jerry Dewayne and Anita Patricia Jackson were interviewed on November 5th, 2006 for “The African American Presence in the Ohio River Valley” Oral History Project, conducted by Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. Mr. Jackson was raised in Rendville, Ohio, a late coal mining community.

    Father time can be so sad, the memories are still there, but some of the people are gone probably true for most peoples lives. Very informative and interesting ! Didn't know that many people of color lived in rendville !

      Rendville was an all black community until about 1980 or so and was initially a coal mining town. It has a very rich but little known history
