    Thank you guys so much for watching, if you enjoy content like this please consider subscribing and sharing the video so I can continue to produce fully independent documentaries/reporting, just like this.
    Also, if the drone video catches your eye, my partner @wxchasing is responsible for those jaw dropping shots. You can see more raw video from this flood on his channel.

I went to Prospect Park yesterday after 8 straight days of rain. It was sunny and everyone was happy but everyone was talking about the rain and how scary it was. This is a powerful piece of storytelling - especially given the speed with which you brought it to TH-cam. You tell a compelling story and stay out of the way of the camera. This is clearly about the people featured and not so much about you and your reactions. THe scenes of strangers coming together to solve problems in real time with real consequences is good medicine for so many feelings of division and conflict in the majority of media and mindset these days. How they bent their backs and pushed with mighty force to calmly escort the stalled cars to shallower waters was inspiring. Also, your conversation with the woman reaching into the muck with her bare hands to clear the drains and your conversation and suggestion that she take a shower soon was telling. It might be gross to go further into it but I think necessary for people to understand how much waste, sewage and other dangerous things are swirling about at their ankles in these situations. Blessings on you and all New Yorkers.

      Hello from 2440, Eastern NSW 👋🏼I don’t watch the news often but when I catch glimpses and Lismore is the topic, I see that things aren’t always being moved along in a timely fashion (for everyone). I hope that is not your case. It’s nice to see a kind comment from someone who has been in the situation and I’m sure the solidarity of first hand experience will mean a lot to an affected NYC resident who reads it.✌🏼kind regards.

    One of the bright spots in a very dark situation like this is in some people the good comes out, and we start helping one another!
    My family survived hurricane Michael, but we lost everything, but it was worth it all to make friends with neighbors that I hadn’t talked to before because we all had to help each other ! After five years, we still have a yearly Michael’s barbecue to keep in touch with each other! To remind us that people are more important than things!

    No one expects rainfall like this so they don’t have protective clothing
    Walking around in floodwater in normal clothing can cause people to get very sick
    Many people don’t realize that floods don’t just happen from blocked storm drains, the drainage areas can be so flooded that the sewage mixes with the rain water and flows throughout a large area above ground

      No one one expects anything! Because a big part of our global society is ignorant, and the leadership of big corporations and in politics that does know cold care, but doesn't - for the sake of short-term benefits and growth. Yet, humanity got warned in 1972 by the Club of Rome, or Rachel Carson. We could have done a lot in this 50 years. And now we start to see the results. Simple physics! Expect more storms and heavier floods, in the future!

  • @copykon
    @copykon ปีที่แล้ว +13

    People should be warned that driving through deep flood water can short out the car's entire electrical system. It's very dangerous at night because you can't tell how deep it is. You won't be able to unlock the doors or roll down any windows and you get trapped. If the car drifts into deeper waters, you will drown. If you ever find yourself in this situation, break the glass of the door with a blunt object - or remove the headrest from your seat. Most importantly, aim at the corners of the glass. Stay safe out there.
