@@Pewerxevilthe 2 and the 1 (on the other version) refer to the bl-8 and bl-10 guns they had. They were just very long versions of the 152mm like the object 120
From what i understand, the cap (not the ballistic cap, the regular cap) is meant to break through any face hardening on the armor, giving the rest of the penetrator an easy path through. IIRC the Panther did use face hardened armor (like most tanks at that time), and so negating the face hardening takes off 30-40mm of equivalent armor.
This is pretty accurate. The caps (both ballistic and otherwise) are a sacrificial penetrator. This means that it begins the process of penetrating the armor even as it is breaking up. As it is breaking up, it is negating a large chunk of the kinetic force of the impact, protecting the shell behind it. This results in the shell having a "head start" so the speak, on it's way through the armor. Its kind of a really rudimentary form of tandem warhead for kinetic rounds.
Russian APHEBC uses a blunt nose penetrator, which in some cases, can help against angled armour. A regular pointed nose shatters on impact, and most of the shell just bounces off. These still shatter, but a larger part of the shell keeps going forward and into the armour. The ballistic cap does pretty much nothing for penetration, it's just there to help reduce air resistance.
Im watching you nearly since the beginning of the channel. That ending was one of the most satisfying scenes Ive ever seen on your channel. Literally Incredible performance with a not-mobil tank.
that tank is deceptively mobile however. those tanks were making the mistake of thinking it was slow. it can turn, but even better, simply back up and aim, its 2x as fast.
I think the same round on the object 268 (higher velocity) can pen the ufp of a tiger 2 at close range and straight on. Which is still really impressive for a conventional AP shell
Listen to the advice of the Russian guy. This is 152mm. Only high-explosive shells. Only one shots. This is how this beast was used in reality, and works great in the game.
Loved that Normandy game, the hold at the church where like 4 of your team mates got killed in like 5 seconds was really cool, felt like an ambush. If we could get a ME 410 video that'd be great Phly Daddy
Ballistic Caps: Basically makes the projectile more streamlined to travel faster and then is made of thin, soft metal that collapses on impact. I guess it could help the projectile with angle pen but it’s probably more for reducing drag
When this thing fires, all I hear is one of those recess balls that you beamed little Jimmy with playing dodgeball from elementary school going *thunk*
Real skill on display for the that last kill of the game. The very intentional reverse using the corner of the building, so he couldn't get around your side and was funneled into your firing arc. Great stuff.
that was scary tactic at end where you probably blocked the other tank to hit the wall and miss it before you got shot it, and that ending gave me chills just having a blood pressure over you
well the ISU-152-2 was only a single prototype, and it's not something the russian tech tree needs (being the largest in the game and not lacking in any areas)

Since you used this 152, you should use the Object 268. It has 233mm of flat pen and can go through 100mm of armor at 60 degrees. It’s an absolute monster

That was some damned impressive gameplay. I can just imagine the other team freaking out trying to kill you, especially that last guy. Using the building as a pick was an awesome move. He knew he was fucked as soon as he hit it.
Ballistic capped round is a blunt-nosed projectile with a Ballistic cap screwed on top of it. The blunt nose makes it less succeptible to ricochets than sharp-nosed rounds.
Last game epic! I haven't even tried this tank, went straight past it when grinding the tree yonks ago ... good thing about these vids is brings fun tanks that you missed to your attention
"It seems to just 'Phase' through armor" continues to echo in my head as I find that that particular round for the ISU-152 generates roughly 6,478,000 Ft-Lbs of force on close-range impact. like I know steel armor isn't much of a joke but when you're designed to crumble bunkers, steel is kinda just an added bonus
I currently use the ISU as an opening vehicle. I've bounced dozens of shells in areas of my armor shouldnt been able to, its lack of gun depression and slow travers killed me many times, and its HEAT shell is usually my saving grace against tiny thin armored vehicles and that 8.8cm german destroyer. I once upheld a no fly zone with it, its a good tank
Yeah the roof mount dshk is absolutely lethal against planes, honestly one of the reasons I really like this entire heavy td tree. they only get better (especially the one on the su-122-54)

there was one actual nuke cannon in 57 before sputnik the U.S. put a nuke in a 200' deep hole and a 200 ton concrete plug and a 50 ton steel manhole cover, it became the fastest man made object for almost 25 years at around 40 miles a second and IF it didn't burn up before reaching space (never been found) the first man made object into space.
Plot twist: in game two it took everyone so long because you were playing against a team phull of stock vehicles. Another case for the TH-camr Bias detectives.
There's just something with the soviet APHEBC's ability to pen the most ridiculous of angles that makes absolutely no sense at all. Maybe because you know, SOVIET. XD
The russian APHEBC rounds are actually APHECBC (gaijin only does 6 letters for some reason), thats why it is better against angles, as the cap allows it to normalize better.
@@fokuuno2 Yes that's actually not ahistorical. I'm not sure of the exact numbers but soviet APHECBC rounds should be significantly better against slopes than other rounds due to the material properties and shape of the round and the cap. If you compare the caps of soviet shells to the caps of other aphe shells, you'll see that the soviet caps are much flatter, which gives them far superior angled performance.
