Two pieces of history made tonight. On Aug. 10, the Tigers were 55-63 and had a 0.2% chance to make the playoffs. They have now broken a 10 year playoff drought by going 31-11 since. With this victory tonight it also secured the Chicago White Sox the worst record in MLB history with there 121st lost of the season. Truly a showcase of opposite ends of a baseball season.
And the guy to make the playoff clincher call is former White Sox play-by-play commentator Jason Benetti. I love this sport, man. Tigers are going in the hot 🔥🔥🔥

Congrats on DeLoach hitting his first major league home run. Back in 2021, he played for the single-A Everett (WA) Aquasox, and one night he hit two home runs, one of which I got. When I had him sign it after the game, he asked if it was the first or second, and when I told him it was the second, he noted that on the ball. Nice guy, his team just had a bad year.

As a Cubs fan, I'm honestly happy for the Tigers fans seeing their team finally make it back to the playoffs after a decade long absence, I know you all have had it rough with not only seeing the Tigers losing alot throughout most of the 2010's-early 2020's but the same case with the Pistons and Lions too. I don't know about the Red Wings since I don't follow hockey.

My Congrats to the Detroit Tigers for making it to the postseason, you earned it. This was a team down and out, but they believed in themselves. Since August 11th the Tigers are now 31-11 and a team ERA of 2.60, that's how they did it.

@@alpardo4124 Two games in a row it happened. The Rays starter was lights out against the Tigers the day before. They took him out after five with just 74 pitches and it was game over for Tampa Bay after that.

It's because he never pitched a full major league season or even a minor league season before. In college his last season he had arm soreness and then COVID shut down the season, he was drafted 11th overall and immediately promoted to the major league bullpen before tossing a single inning in the minor leagues and this year and then had to get Tommy John and only came back at the very end of last season.

White sox now have the worst record in mlb history. It is ironic how the tigers had one of the worst records in history and they had to beat another team for that same team to get the record. (Also, i have to give props to the tigers. Made a huge comeback to get that playoff spot.)

I ama huge Mets fan. Never thought their 1962 loss anti record would be broken. Tigers came close in 2003, I think, losing 119, this is absolutely mind boggling that someone could be so exceptionally bad and inept nowadays to lose 121. At least. I can understand why Mets lost 120 in '62. They were an expansion team that got rejects and players way past their prime from other clubs in expansion draft. None of that applies to the Sox. They labored under no such constraints and that's what makes the whole situation even more mind boggling. You probably couldn't lose 121 if you tried to do it on purpose, you are bound to win 42 by sheer accident. I am not complaining though. Grateful to Sox Mets no longer own that anti record.
