Thank you, my friend. Just bought me a 2021 rebel 500 Saturday. I love it. Had the 300 for about 2 months and was so ready for the upgrade. Figured I might as well learn how to change the oil myself as opposed to paying someone. I like your exhaust and fender delete!! I reversed the mirrors on mine and bought the headlight cowl. Waiting on my shorty exhaust.
Hey bro does the rebel need a break in period? The guy at the dealership told me it didn’t , I got mine last night, he just told me to not do full throttle for the first 30 minutes.. what do you recommend?
@@l13SofP I'm at 360miles of easy riding and no full throttle and it feels smoother than when it had only one mile. My 2021 bought on 9/11 was and still is tight. I will put 70 easy miles more on mine tomorrow and call it good.
I know this is an old video but what do you have wrapped around the exhaust. It looks pretty sick I really like the look. Also curious if it serves a function or just aesthetic?
Yeah that's what I was wondering. I'm guessing that its there to protect against burning your skin on the hot exhaust pipes but yeah I wish I knew what it was so I could add it to my bike too
Yes it drives me nuts when people throw videos up like this with just music and them doing it with little or no type of explanation of the process lol.
How did you install your bar end mirrors? Did you drill out the bar weights? Have you noticed increased vibration? I bought bar end mirrors with adapter but the weights threw me.
@@EvilNeil187 yes I got the rebel. I love the bike so much! It’s a fun bike to cruise with. I’m still trying to learn to do all the maintenance myself so I’m new at that haha.
@@angelicavalentines1072 awesome def good to know and it translates to other bikes because they are all pretty similar, and saves your some $$$! Lots of rebel vids on my channel with what I have done, check em out and thanks for commenting!
I just got a used Rebel over the weekend. It's a 2018 Rebel 300 and has about 700 miles on it.. Since we got it at a Harley dealership, I am not sure if the previous owner ever did an oil change and I have no idea how to find out... Do you have any tips on that? The dealership said (of course) that none of their techs can work on anything with metric tools (and still charged me a $499 "prep fee"..). Any help would be appreciated, thank you!!!
check your manual it will show how to change the oil, there should be a oil level window on the rear break side of the bike, i also have a video on how to do your first oil change which will cover everything, just note the 300cc might take less oil than the 500
I checked the oil level the next day after letting it sit and it wasn't between the min and Max anymore. I added about another 250 ML until it was about half way between min and Max again. Is this bad?
hey man question, did you put on that aftermarket exhaust before 600 miles? I want to install an exhaust but was worried as some said I need to break it in for at least 300 miles
I am going to buy this bike soon as my first bike and i am a little bit confused now, so first time you supposed to change oil after 500 miles abut next time you can change it even after 2000 ? Because we are planning long trip in next summertime with my girlfriend and i wan't to be prepared with everything :D
just some basic off amazon, I only wrapped them cuz the arrow headers are brushed stainless, the lextek cp8c is hard chrome, it looks kinda silly next to each other so I wrapped them all

I like those Rebals. I think in a few years when the used market has a bunch of them I'll pick up a 500 to play with.
they are really fun for around town.
Great videos! I like the way you explain everything step by step. Really appreciate your help and keep up the good work. Cheers.
Thanks for watching!

Nice bro. Never thought of the foil idea. Thanks for the vid! 🤜🤛
lil pro tip ;)
tin foil is a great idea for not getting oil on those headers
agreed! I do that!
Any video on the rear fender delete?
Where are my wraps I ordered?
What are those mirrors you have installed called they are nice.
check my bar install video they are linked
Sir im not knowledgeable about motorcycles. What is that thing like fabric around the muffler? Does that comes when you buy a new rebel 500?
no thats exhaust wrap I put on, you can see I have a video where I install it
Do you have a video installing the brake and clutch levers?
yes check out my drag bar install video
@@EvilNeil187 thank you!
@@EvilNeil187 did not see anything about levers in that video, ended with the mirrors and a test ride
jason funderburker teaches you how to change oil
What’s the best level when you put oil on your motorcycle
markers on the crank case fill the oil to the line, or check your manual for ammount
What other maintenance do you need to perform at 600 miles ? Is it a big deal if I don’t take it to the dealership ? They want to charge me $300 !!!!
I would check the manual it should list
Hi can I ask you where can I find the saddlebag for my CMX 500 rebel. Thanks
I would look online and see who makes they specifically for rebels.
Do you know how much was drained out when you emptied it man? Im doing mine soon but I drained it and still had 2 quarts at 700ish miles.
Hi, I like your exhaust, did you remove the DB KIller?
CP8C has no db killer, or at least my model
did you put any new washer for the small bolt?
Nah typically if it doesn't look damaged or beat up you are fine!
How did you install your bar end mirrors? Did you drill out the bar weights? Have you noticed increased vibration? I bought bar end mirrors with adapter but the weights threw me.
No stock bar weights just plastic plugs if I recall... No increase vibrations. Check my drag bar install video.
Just got my new rebel 2019!! Sweet deal
oh hell yeah!
Do you need to change the filter every oil change?
Some people do, sometimes I will let it go twice depending on how the oil looks and if I see anything in the oil that looks concerning.
@@EvilNeil187 Awesome thank you for the response
Thanks so much for this! I’m on my first motorcycle so this made it easy!!
So fun! Did you get a rebel too??? How do you like it? Perfect starter bike!

You def want it in-between the min and max when the bike is level in the riding position not on its side on the kick stand.
hey man question, did you put on that aftermarket exhaust before 600 miles? I want to install an exhaust but was worried as some said I need to break it in for at least 300 miles
I put an aftermarket on day 1 lol zero issues, you will be fine!
Perfect video thanks man. How did you get your bike so perfectly clean too??
Thanks for the video! Liked. Which oil filter did you use?
whatever stock one honda has
Awesome video! Great guide
Awesome videos, dude! Just got a 2020 Rebel 500 and I’m interested in those vinyl wraps you put on your front forks. How can I get some from you.
just head over to my website www.en187.com and you can order them!
Im getting into motorcycles, will the rebel 500 be a good starter bike?
oh its perfect, so easy to ride, light, good mileage and power on the 500, def go 500 vs 300 id say
@@EvilNeil187 thank you!
Great video! Hey man so it’s okay to change the exhaust before the 600 mile mark? I’ve been waiting to make sure but really want to change it
yeah I did mine with like 50 miles lol its fine

correct 1st oil change is to remove any potential metal shavings from a new engine, after your 1st change you can go longer between changes
What exhaust wrap did you get? Any noticeable difference?
just some basic off amazon, I only wrapped them cuz the arrow headers are brushed stainless, the lextek cp8c is hard chrome, it looks kinda silly next to each other so I wrapped them all
Bike is so sick, will you ever sell it?
I was thinking about it!
The oil looks brand new ! Why 600 miles ? It should be tenfold that to wear out the oil. So just to make sure there are no metal parts in the oil ?
Yes this is when honda recommends you do the 1st change, just to flush the system and make sure to remove and potential metal debris
Hey where’d you get the bag?
Its a viking cycles bag for a sportster
How much did this kit cost you and where did you get it?
What kit? The oil and filter?
Yes
@@terraharris1890 like 20$ for the oil maybe and 5-10$ for the filter

Ha! I wish! Only for SCMM, I live in Michigan!
Literally the perfect video. Thank you!
thanks!
Hello, did you empty the entire bottle of oil?
whatever the manual said for oil amount.
Are you changing it at 8k like the manual says or sooner than that
manual says 1st oil change at 600 miles
Nicely done thanks for the tin foil tip.
ill give you the tip any time ;) BAHAHAHA
Thanks brother. I just hit 600 miles yesterday. I appreciate the video, awesome rebel and I dig the flip flops. Jk
hahaha thanks man!
Uh the manual says 10w 30
Thanks!

SUPER VIDEO !!!!!

Great video. Thank you for your effort. Well done! :)
Thanks, dude; perfect...
Love the bike man, done perfectly! What adjustable brake and clutch handles are you running?
I forget exactly just amazon rebel shorty levers and you should find the correct set!
dude fill the oil filter with oil so the start up isn't dry...
