Oh no ~! That's sad ! I have done many solo trips to overseas. Well,to visit my ex.here in S.Cal from Tokyo & very recently I've done a real solo trip to U.K.( Wales & England)& made back !! Lol. There's nothing to be scared of as long as you choose destinations carefully & always being alerted & don't risk like going to alleys or being out late at night ,etc. You can stay at hostels & hang out with people you meet there occasionally. I've heard / read a lot of stories that many people met incredible people at hostels & became friends !! Many hostels hostels tours & night outing & games ,etc. Amtrak is pretty safe !! And if you need to stay at hotels ,stick to the closest ones to Amtrak stations !! Sometimes those hotels can be very expensive, but you won't have to walk alone for a long time or ride a taxi & spend more $$ !! Especially night times .They say Amtrak delays a lot ( my past experiences tell me that's true ! ) ,so if you need to change trains ,try staying at a hotel for a night & take the next day train to your destination ,instead ! As Amtrak trains can be late for several hours ,then you miss your next train !! Because Amtrak will put you on a bus to your final destination. And that can take several hrs.!! I'd say Amtrak pacific surfliner could be the very best 1st solo train trip !! Or one to Canada .Good luck ! 💜🥁🐲🎤🎶💕💞
Heyyyyy y'all!!! It's been a month since my last video (holidays + I lost my voice 😅) but before the year is out I wanted to share some reflections and tips I've been having about my past train travels as I prepare for the future! So let me know which train trip sounds like the one for you! And if you've done any of these - share your tips in the comments too.
I’ve been traveling on trains for many years because my husband worked for the railroad 😊. My favorites are the California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, Coast Starlight and the Auto Train. I haven’t been on the Empire Builder yet, but planning on it. Love your videos!
Honestly, I love that Amtrak is slowwwwww travel. When it has to pull over for a freight train, I'm happy 'cause it's more time on the train. My favorite route is the Empire Builder, too. I'd ride that again.
Sometimes two roomettes can actually be cheaper than booking one bedroom if you’re traveling with someone else. This way you have space, views on both sides of the train, and can both sleep on bottom bunks.
Just dropping a comment to say you inspired me to book my solo train trip! Riding the Zephyr in a couple weeks & I cant wait. I've watched all your train vlogs and now I wanna plan a cross country trip sometime soon!
Taking your advice for the new year. I have the California Zephyr, Chicago to Emryville booked in January and the Southwest Chief, Chicago to LA booked in March. The Sunset Limited and the Canadian are on my wish list. Happy Holidays!
Do the Seattle departure that goes up the Puget Sound at dinner time on the Empire Builder. It is arguably some of the best scenery of all the routes. It's all so hard to judge. I love all the routes. Also, the butter cake is the greatest.
@Sojournies I think the Cascades to Vancouver is the same route for a little but the Empire Builder turns East after cruising north for an hour or so along the sound.
I've been on the City of New Orleans train. It is not scenic at all. And, when I took it, it broke down in the middle of nowhere. Better to fly there. I've also taken the train from London to Edinburgh and it was a gorgeous route. Beautiful quaint villages on the left side like New Castle and Durham, and then you have the North Sea on the right side. Just stunningly beautiful.
@@Sojournies What kind of plan do you recommend? Are there any dead spots? I have 3 littles and they live on their tablets! I know they will enjoy the trip but movies and games are also a must! How many devices can be on at once? Any experiences outside of the states?
@@NurseResourceTrainingCenter you can find their plans in the app I don’t really have a preference tbh. And I don’t have kids so I can’t speak to that, I’m also normally only using one device on it at a time. And I’ve used it in Canada and it’s fine - nothing different from the U.S
Greetings, it's dope to see a fellow Milwaukee TH-camr creating travel vlogs. I will take the California Zypher next month, headed to the Grammy festivities. I was going to ask your thoughts on the East coast on the train but you answered it. Wait, your sister is a travel vlogger also, I follow her on Instagram.
I keep bringing up train trips to people and get shot down. My problem is getting the courage to go on that solo trip 😭

Is that different from the Cascades?? Cause I did that one through Puget Sound at sunset and it was gorgeous!
