I taught my daughter in law to how sew and this was one of our first projects. She is a natural. She lined up her seems better than I did. This is such a wonderful beginners project that looks so polished. Thank you for your generous tutorials.
I JUST SAW A GREAT TIP ON THE RULER, PAT. BEFORE YOU TAKE DOWN THE RULER AFTER YOU TAPED THE WEBBING YOU CAN MEASURE WHERE THE STICH LINES OF THE WEBBING AT THE TOP. THAT WAY BOTH SIDES WILL BE EVEN WHEN YOU SEW THEM

i have a local shop that does vinyl remnants from boats etc, i get rolls in bulk, about 40 rolls for 25 us $. they have about 3-6 yards on each roll of all kinds of vinyl, any color and prints, i went twice and have vinyl coming out my ears. lol
I TELL YOU PAT, WHEN I DO A TOP STICH (ESPECIALLY ON VINYL) I THINK ABOUT YOU AND I SLOWLY TAKE MY TIME. THAT TEFLON FOOT, DOESN'T WORK FOR ME, I HAVE TO USE SCOTCH TAPE AND PUT IT UNDER MY REGULAR PRESSER FOOT. IT WORKS WONDERS! LOL!
Bravo, Im a new sewer and struggling a little bit, but Wow Wow Wow, you did a great job of showing us how to make this bag. Im just blown away that its so beautiful and you made it look so simple. I do have one complaint. Now that you've got me all super excited to try this, I cant find this material/vinyl here in Australia, so I jumped over to your website, spent a good half hour selecting all the goodies to make it, and more (maybe 4 of them, ha ha), and was so disappointed when I couldnt check out because you dont ship to Australia!!! Im gutted. Is there any way I can get you to ship here? Pleeeeease. Either way, you did a great job and you've got a new subscriber here. Love your calm teaching, too. Try temu, the crock vinyl doesnt have the eye but has the rest of the pattern and isnt as big but is 12 x 52 so that worked for me in many colors also emu pattern too.
Pat, I did buy this from your shop. I was wondering if you have examples of what you do with these scaps? I saw some examples for the other vinyl and canvas bag. Since, this vinyl has this unique design I thought you might have some ideas?
Hi Diana, this particular bag is not lined or interfaced because it was designed to be made up very quickly so we do not have instructions on lining it. You can always try experimenting and having fun with it to find a way to line it! Happy sewing!
❤this bag! I went to your website and picked out the honey caramel vinyl, but I can’t tell if I should use a black patent or a dark brown for the bottom? Can’t tell I’d the honey caramel is shined or not. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated . What a great tip to use a Teflon foot🤯and the sticky tape! Mind is blown here in Michigan.
Hi there! You can definitely use normal thread, and this particular bag is not lined or interfaced because it was designed to be made up very quickly so we do not have instructions on lining it. As for interfacing, the vinyl is thick enough to hold its shape pretty well. We hope this helps, and happy sewing!
Another question - can you use a regular sewing machine like Babylock Brilliant? Or do I need a special machine to sew vinyl. Please let me know. Thanks Pat
We didn't include a lining because we wanted this bag to be quick & EASY to make for beginners or if you wanted a quick project. You can always add a lining if you want!

Hi! We think a black OR brown bottom would look great with the Honey Caramel keys gator vinyl. The Honey Caramel vinyl is shiny.

Hi there! You can used your regular sewing machine to make this bag. We recommend a teflon foot and a Vinyl OR Denim needle. Happy sewing!
