      Now that I'm more experienced I've realized you can use whatever interfacing you are comfortable with, but when I was a beginner and had no idea I got so mad bcuz I didn't know what fusible was and didn't know the difference from interfacing and other things lol

      Yes. I AGREE. I see so many tutorials, where they don't give you enough information and it just doesn't feel right. It seems obvious that they don't want to share any tips to help the subscriber to be successful!

    Thank you SO much!!! My little granddaughter loves "little bags". I am a quilter, and I have made big Tote Bags before, but I wasn't sure how to create a little bag for her, until I found you on TH-cam. I LOVE the way you describe everything in detail. It is extremely helpful. I have watched your video a few times now, and I am about to go and start the little Tote Bag for my granddaughter - Matilda Rose. Thankyou again!! I have subscribed, as I want to see what else you can teach me, even though I have been quilting for 16 years....I can still learn new things!! Love from Sue in South Australia xxx

      @@chicnscratch Thanks Angie! I didn't start the Little Tote until quite late this afternoon, but I have all the pieces cut our ready, and ironed nicely, and I even made a little pocket out of the same lining fabric to put inside the bag for Tilly as well. (I had to watch a different TH-cam Tutorial to learn how to put a pocket into a bag for that!!) Ha...ha... I was pleased that I have at least STARTED sewing again, as I have been a Quilter for about 16 or more years, and I used to teach "Beginner's Quilting" at our local church, where I started up a Craft Group once a fortnight mafy years ago, that is still running. I did that for a long time, until my health put a stop to my teaching, as there was a lot of preparation etc., in that, as well as running the Craft Group. So today was the first day I have used my beloved Bernina Aurora 440 Quilters Edition for about 5 years!! I could remember most things, but I was glad my husband found the Manual for me, as I was having a bit of trouble remembering how to load the bobbin into the machine. I want to finish this little bag in time to give it to Tilly on Easter Monday, (that is a week to go from tomorrow, over here), when we will be seeing all the family and my 9 grandchildren...who range in age from 22 down to Tilly who just turned 6 :) We have 4 daughter's because my Husband had 2 daughter's from his 1st marriage, and we have 2 daughters as well. Hence the 9 grandchildren that are spaced out in their ages!!
      I am SO thrilled I found your TH-cam channel, and I have subscribed, and I can't wait to learn what else you can teach me, now that I can't go out to Classes any more! :) Blessings from Sue in South Australia xxx

    I have never made a tote bag. I am taking an online embroidery class where I am embroidering an outside pocket on both sides of the bag, an inside pocket, a box bottom and of course, the lining. Your video helps me visualize my project. The class teacher is great at teaching embroidery designing but the construction techniques are not familiar to me. Seeing your detailed video helped me so thank you!

      You're welcome! You should be able to get 6 of them out of one yard (make your 1st cut at 11", on the 36" side). But, you also need a yard for the lining fabric. If you use the front fabric for both then you can make three out of one yard.

    I just saw discovered your videos. Such cute bags and clear instructions. I wanted to mention that I often don’t pin when sewing small pieces. For example, when doing those tiny handles they have been ironed and fleece added so the folds and sewing line are well established. I find that the pin makes a lump and then when I remove the pin it causes me to shift the fabric just the tiniest bit. just a suggestion for those who are new, try it pinning and see if it works better for you. I do use pins when piecing long seams.

    • @chicnscratch

    So glad to watch this. Very well explained. Thanks so much. Just wondering how what size to make it bigger.

    • @nancy9478
      @nancy9478 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Decide how big you want the tote, add seam allowances. For the bottom/sides, you need to add half that measurement to each peice. Making mockups from old sheets is a good way to practice.

    Easy to understand! I enjoyed the process. w
    Was wondering if I wanted to make this a little larger, would I add the same number of inches across the top and bottom or a different formula. In other words, would I change the 11x8 to 13x 10? Thank you.

      I made a larger one this weekend and here's the measurements for you. 11 x 10 is a nice size. I made the handle larger by using 3 x 14 instead of 3 x 9. I hope that helps. I'm going to film a video on this new size soon.

    Already made four of these! They turned out very nice! Used favorite team fabrics and have put fuzzy socks inside. For the gift tag I have found a printable that says “for your mistle’toes’ “. May include a polish and file and some lotion.. adorable gift! Thanks so much!

    I wish you would tell us if your doing a 1/4” seam or a 3/8” or 1/8 because quite honesty I have no idea when you are “lining up outside foot or middle of foot, or inside edge of foot” means because every foot is different.

    I hope it’s OK to ask. I’ve made some of these for my charity raising money for Koalas and Adelaide South Australia, but I’ve decided to do my straps differently instead of doing in the middle of the bag like you have, I’ve decided to do them. On the opposite sides of the bag and I’m only using one strap the handle so do I still put in pin the handle on the outside of the bag or on the inside of the bag?

    WOW !!! This is the first "quite in - depth" video about sewing bags I have found. This bag seems so easy to make with how you show us step - by - step just what to do, and, how to measure and cut the bottom part to get the box shape. I'm prob gonna be making at least one of these bags tomorrow. Am wondering, though, how it would work out if you put a snap or some kind of closure on the inside - top of it. Also, I'm no longer scared to use the fusible interfacing. TYSM for sharing this video with us. 😍
