Video: Gamers play video games for 12 hours per week.
Me: you mean per day?
Video: what?
Me: what?
"Dozens of hours a week"
meaning at least 24 hours a week.
And utilizing 12 hours of practice/play a day would mean they aren't getting enough sleep and probably aren't eating well, socializing and getting other hobbies/diversions in :(
Lofty Firstly they do get enough sleep. Most pros don't sleep more than 6-8 hours and food is already cooked for them. There simply are no other hobby's if you are an export athelethe just like other athletes don't really have hobby's. Interest yes, but time to make it a hobby, no!
Lofty what is this "socialising" you speak of??
Lofty 18 hours a day i play
Ultimate Counter-Strike N00b pathetic
Who else got legitimately uncomfortable while watching this
Was a relief for me actually
Zach Bellman Stop crying. I HAVE carpal tunnel RIGHT NOW.
Zach Bellman ipohondry
We all have carpal tunnels right now, one in each wrist.
while i was watching this my hand start to hurting me
this channel is really growing on me. I love the way they do interviews (I don't mind reading the question) and I love that you guys are expanding to other aspects of gaming. keep it up!!
same
So glad to hear it, thank you! :)
i actually had or rather still have carpal tunnel syndrome, its not nearly as bad as it was a year ago though. the pain was so bad i couldnt sleep at times. take care of yourselves guys
yeah man it was like hell
glad it's gone now, i think it's like 2 years since then
how did you get rid of yours ? I was diagnosed with it last week and have been suffering through it for a year now.
Well i didn't went to the doctor because it was like a lower stage. Half a year it hurt really bad but the other half it started to not hurt so bad and it happend less. Try to maintain your elbows and wrist STRAIGHT while staying at the pc, because this is really important. This is what most likely what caused it in most cases. Take some breaks from the pc to put a bag of ice on the wrists and stay like that for a couple of minutes. And i used some kind of cream i don't know how it's called but it's suppoed to make your wrist feel really warm like it's almost burning and that helps with the infalmation. Try these tips and it may help you get rid of it faster.
Edit: And to help with that i actually got a new chiar with adjustable arms to help me maintain my arms at the same level as the desk.
#1, verify your diagnosis with both Google, MD, and another physician. I have had individuals tell me their doctor diagnosed them with carpal tunnel, when they absolutely did not have it. But some doctors are lazy, stupid shits and will give buzz word diagnoses because it's more comfortable for patients; patients feel like they understand their condition, and they don't ask questions.
#2, myofascial release of the forearm flexors and flexor retinaculum. Muscular release and stretch of pronator teres. Extensors should be worked too, but not as critical.
#3, laser therapy directed at the carpal tunnel, passage through pronator teres, and cervical nerve roots.
#4, gentle forearm flexor stretching exercises daily
Significant relief of symptoms should not take more than a month with weekly treatments, though symptoms may increase initially after the first treatment.
Storm3r do u still play pc?
These types of videos are really good. The animations really make it seem professional and fun, like the crash course videos. Super informative too.
Thanks!
Please add subtitles to your videos for the hearing impaired. I love your content and want to be able to enjoy more of it. I hope this isn't too much to ask for.
I second this. Even though my hearing is not impaired, I still like to read subtitles. I'm not sure why.
Ask and you shall receive! It's been added--we have subtitles on all our videos, just missed this one. Sorry about that.
Thank you so much!
What a fucking legend
Blitz Esports LoL for this i subscribe, my gearing is good but thats just fucking friendly. God bless you
Blitz has changed the eSports interview and related content game for me completely. Questions in interviews are relevant and their side content videos like such here are so informative. Tried their app and instantly fell in love with it over the other apps I no longer use. Keep it up please!
Aw, thank you so much! Glad you're enjoying them :D
For almost 4 years I thought I was developing carpal tunnel. Progressively my gaming sessions with friends got shorter and less enjoyable. I'm no pro, but gaming is part of my lifestyle so I was really distressed at the thought that I may have to give it up. I tried all sorts of posture correction in my wrist from wearing wrist braces to buying a better desk. Nothing reduced the pain, until the 3rd year when the shoulder pain I had developed from swimming began to ruin my favorite traditional sport as well. This time I did not hesitate to go to a doctor and look into physical therapy. I was lucky that nothing was actually damaged inside if my shoulder, but the muscles in my neck and back were chronically very tense. This turned out not only to be causing my shoulder pain, but also pinching the nerves in my shoulder that run down my arm and into my hand, thus causing the issues I was experiencing. After that I bought a new chair with removable arm rests to encourage myself not to lean on my right arm and allow it to relax. I adjusted my stroke in swimming as well to be less intense on the wrong parts of my shoulder. Now I still have a little lingering discomfort, but I get to swim and play games to my hearts content.
Moral of the wall o' text: If you think you have carpal tunnel, but you can't seem to treat it, check out your shoulder too. I found that everything from swimming, the desks at my school, my homework/gaming desk, and my favorite traditional sport all contributed to an unhealthy chronic tenseness in my shoulder, that causes me to experience many of the symptoms of carpal tunnel, even now after treatment because I let it get so severe before I managed to figure the issue out.
I used to have issues with carpal tunnel myself. I did find treatment for it though. Go here to learn how I cured it: CarpalTunnel.club
Thanks for sharing. Have you continued to feel well?

My father had carpal tunnel problems and was operated. It healed in a few weeks and he doesn't have any more issues since then. I think an operation isn't the most common way yet, but according to my father it worked out very well for him.

As someone who doesnt watch or even play LoL often, this channel has a lot of interesting videos that apply to all e-sports. Keep it up
Anybody else wrist hurt after watching this?
Sterling Hamilton lol yeahh
I go through tons of wrist pain and soreness from constant gaming. I get pains throughout the day when I'm at work. I'm glad to see that there's an easy fix for it.
I was feeling numbness in my left pinkie and ring finger, a few days later while i was playing overwatch with friends, I began feeling sharp pains in my wrist that hurt like hell. I began to do stretches in between loading screens and got a wrist support, and now my wrist feels perfect
Thank you
jason loo what
Blitz Esports I love you so much, this was such a well timed video. Lately I've been having wrist pains from the long hours I put into league most likely, and I was worrying that it could be Carpal Tunnel
Glad to help :)
Another amazing video! The production on your videos stays amazing as always!
Watch as CNN blames it on video games.
Me: Hey CNN. You're forgetting injuries happen in non e-sports.
Microsoft Regime
lol CNN is trash
That's the joke
Yolk Those Nuts So would FOX, ABC, InfoWars, Buzzfeed, or most news organizations. You would be surprised just how far these companies would go for a story, and worried parents (or in Buzzfeed's case, worried rich college kids who would grow to be parents) will take action on it, and probably spend more time watching the network to see if they can stop any other "dangers" that await their children. It's a devious plot, and annoyingly, it works. Over-explaining guy on the internet, AWAY! *awkward fake horse sounds*
Buzzfeed is not a news source.
Agreed. However, they sell themselves as such, and the dumbasses that watch it for anything but the memes will believe anything that gets shoved in their face.
I am well experienced in the carpal tunnel syndrome. It's nice to see that other people are now being aware of the problem too.
Damn you guys are doing some fine ass work.

Dude. Your channel is beyond amazing. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, we will! :)
As an osu! player, I’m now scared that my fingers and wrist will die.
Dude I got into osu like 4 days ago and ive been looking into this! I don't wanna get a wrist problem
It's amazing how informative this is.
Love your content Blitz, big fan of you guys now :)
Everything is so well made.
Thank you so much :)
Totally amazing video. I wish someone really known in the community (any community really) shouted you guys out, because your guys' content is just so godamn good!
The esports community has been fantastic! We definitely appreciate all the support that teams, personalities, and online community members have shown.
I always thought aphroo was having problems with this because I saw the tape. Glad to know it's to prevent it or lessen its effects
You missed the most important point: What to do to prevent it?
Good posture and ergonomics
I feel like when I ignore random pains, its more about the fact that they're not concerning, not that we're attempting to avoid treatment.
How do you guys not have more subs?
It's a new channel. They have been gaining subs at a really good rate!
Yep, we've only been at it for about 3 months! Really appreciate all the support people have shown
Jason P make 7 accounts and sub them
The side of my wrist hurt after playing a game for a while, searched up whats going on, and found this
I really love this channel, always wondered about this issue and it's good to finally know what's up
Glad to hear it!
I wanted to get some info after my osu! Sessions, my left wrist hurted like hell, it was almost like someone stabbed me with a knife in the wrist and made it impossible to keep playing.
Thanks for this video, i will try to tale more care of my wrist now.

I have pain in my hand, pretty sure it's carpal tunnel. Haven't got it checked out.
I'm crying watching this video thinking I'll never be able to play CSGO anymore...
you ever figure out what it was?
@@SPACEMONKEY_Y I went to the doctor, he gave some medication for nerve, and blood flow.
I took them, but the pain didn't went away.
Then I bought a "hand cast" to restrict the movement of my hand. Wore it for weeks. The pain slowly went away.
@@jessicatale9909 are you able to play video games now? :/
@@SPACEMONKEY_Y yes. My hand is fine now.
Thank you for this video, it put my fears to rest and ill be more aware of health.
I know I'm not a pro but I spend a lot of time on campus maybe 6/7 hours most days and when ever I die or have a break or even when I'm not playing I always stretch and use one of those hand squeezing things that strengthens the wrist
This channel reminds me of Kurzgesagt but for esports, smart concept. The only problem I have with this video is that I for some reason expected a few actual solid ways of preventing carpal tunnel but only really got vague descriptions of how some people do.
I got tendinitis from overplaying. I had to take a week break and started using compression sleeves. So far it helped a lot.
Bryce Mower compression sleeves, where do I but them?
I'm so happy that the competitive game I play is Smash but if there's people out there w/ this kind of pain I hope you're doing fine rn
I was playing basketball (finals) I was dribbling the ball while I was running and I suddenly tripped and to grab myself I kept my left and right hand infront of me. Since the ground was rough my knee got hurt as well, It started bleeding and my right was paining so badly some where near my wrist, because of my knee I wasn't able to get up. I was in so much pain, that I had to stop playing sports/video games because of my hand. Most of the work was done by my left hand (such as typing, eating, drinking, etc)Sadly I'm not a lefty. So then I started searching on the internet about wrist pain and how to stop it. Found this video and It made me understand perfectly.Thanks.
Wow, this is some brilliant content!
Keep up the good work!
I have carpal tunnel syndrome and exercises from Dr Levi Harisson have helped me so much.
I got carpal tunnel a few times. However, it wasn't exclusively gaming caused for me. It's always after extended drives.
It sucks, it really does. So if there's been extra strain on your wrists like extended gaming weekends, interstate drives, etc, take a break for at least a few days. Better than being forced to take a break for a few months.
I just wanted to play Minecraft with my crush and now my fingers feel tingly 😔I can’t sleeep bro
Listen to me stretchy your arms and wrists go on TH-cam and look stretches for carpel tunnel.
2. Get a hemp cream/ CBD online it’s amazing
3. Take breaks after playing adjust your posture
4. Talk to your doctor and go on acupuncture
wow this is so educational. i always wonder what a carpal tunnel is. thank you guys! you're the best ^^
Glad to hear it!
The most important thing is not ignoring it IMO. I made the mistake of brushing everything off until it got worse. If you have pain or discomfort, adjust your sitting posture, take more breaks and stretch. Make this a habit and you'll be gucci
My wrist hurt and the pain wouldn't go until I'm asleep. On the next day, the pain is gone. Knowing that I fix my posture, keyboard position, etc. It's already 4 days and I'm fine.
good video makes me feel somewhat more secure, one of the many unanswered questions of life.
I remember a year and a half ago I think I started to develop early carpal tunnel from playing to much CS. Luckily for me my parents banned me from my PC for 2 months due to bad grades and I haven't had a problem since
41. Gamer my whole life. Just diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Literally a life changer. Posture, weight control and nutrition play large roles. Believe me - you don't want this guys. I'm "poking" the keyboard right now. Right hand fingers from middle to pinky numb and unable to grip anything. Little stuff like this gets taken for granted.
*41 as in I'm 41.
me too i cant even play anymore league of legends my hand is fucked its fucking depressing
Got some tingly feeling in my wrist while in a league game searched it up and this popped up.
I neeeeeed subtitles. Im deaf, and i loved you so much guys because you always have subtitles. :C
The subtitles are up! Apologies for the delay - we forgot when we first posted, sorry!
No need to worry fella, amazing video. You guys rock!
i used to play CSGO & other competitive games. at least 12 hours a day. It was really bad. I use to lose feeling in the tip of my fingers if i shook them. If i closed my eyes i used to see flashing lights. ect. For reasons i’ve been free of computer games for 2 1/2 months now. And i feel much better. The addiction was strong for about 5 years. And it only took me about a month to get rid of the extreme urge to play.
Going through it right now, effecting my day to day. Cant open and close my hand like I used to. Even texting this message feels bad
My hands feel weird when I think in my head and say "what If my hands feel weird again"
Another great video by you guys keep up the great work!
Thank you! :)
no problem man you deserve it, btw have you guys thought about covering other esports in a different channel or anything?
We're actually moving slowly into CS:GO and eventually Overwatch content! They're on our Featured Channels list, though they're mostly empty right now, haha.
thanks for the info
so this is why my hand had to be amputated ty for the advice i will be sure to tell my self this in my next life.
Similar things happen to runners where something in their legs are being strained from activity and they must retire because the can't compete.
Osu! players deal more with this xD I once had a lower stage and it hurt so bad for like half an year... One night i literally started crying in the bed while trying to go to sleep because it hurt too much. I can say it was interesting to experience that but no one would want it agian xD
imStorm3r weeb
aliwalyd3 lol your left hand is still doing most the work
csgo players deal even more with this
Storm3r- sometimes osu makes me question my sanity
You guys should look into mindfulness training(meditation) and gaming. I personally think if someone is an esport athlete they should meditate at least 20 minutes a day as it strenghtens focus, impulse control etc.
"The problem is that people brush their pain off and dont act upon it"
later in the video
"Dont fear kids most of the times its only minor pain you can just brush it off"
WHAT DO I BELIEVE NOW
?????
Would love to hear more from Matt Hwu :)
My thumb is hurting from watching this video on my phone do I have carpal tunnel?
No, I have carpal tunnel from texting/gaming every day for about a decade. One video isn't gonna do shit, mate.
Carpal tunnel syndrome isn't the only kind of repetitive strain injury you can get - my computer habits led to me developing tendinosis earlier this year. Tendinosis is a degenerative condition that is treated with frequent stretches and weeks or months of rest, and anti-inflammatory medicine actually slows down the healing process. You should examine your symptoms and make sure you don't assume you have the wrong condition.
i broke my radius and my ulna in my wrist 2 weeks ago and I'm experiencing all of these symptoms now I'm shook
I think it's funny we have doctors for esports xD. But I also think this is a good thing for games. Games are becoming more common and people out there actually care about the health of our esports athletes. Hearing stuff like this makes me happy!
Wtf is it bad that I was playing so hard that my hands literally went numb like you said and tbh I never even heard of carpal tunnel syndrome until now
Carpel tunnel syndrome is not an overuse injury, tendinitis is. I would frequently have pain from playing EverQuest and WoW, so I went to the specialist to be checked for carpel tunnel syndrome. The test involved having electric needles put into the muscles of my hand and having me flex those muscles in a specific manner. I tested negative, and yes it sucked. Essentially the point is that carpel tunnel syndrome is often not the issue, but it is the term that people know, and the symptoms are pretty similar.
This is something I've been struggling with for the past year and a half. It's limited my gaming so much over this time. I even basically quit playing from Christmas to early March this year. I haven't gone to the doctor since I don't have insurance. But I've tried multiple things to try to fix my wrist. I take anti-inflammatories, wear a wrist brace at night, got a mouse that's supposed to be more ergonomic, and been trying to work on my posture. Sometimes I feel I'm making some progress, but I'm not sure.
Go to a chiropractor! my carpel tunnel was so bad I could only take one game of CSGO before i had to stop playing games for the day now my carpel tunnel is completely gone
just go out sometimes. fuck gaming
that's what i tought too
you will eventually get rid of it
try to put ice on your wrists when it hurts and apply some type of cream that warms your wrists (helps a lot but i forgot how that type of cream is called)
Do I go to a doctor or chiropractor?
Do exercise and weights
If you guys are looking for some content to make before summer split, the rise of GAM at MSI would be an extremely fun vid :)
This is scaring me so fucking much because every once in a while my hands will tingle and feel strange, but very rarely.
Why do they say that the problem is that young players brush off their pains in the wrist but then they say that most times it actually just is nothing serious?
I can't help thinking this channel only exists to promote your app, reminds me of Casey Neistat. But hey, as long as you keep making quality content, I'll keep watching!
Haha, we spend waaayy too much time on our content for it to exist only to promote the app. We put a lot of effort and resources into both, so of course we want each one to promote the other. Our content features our app, and our app features our content, and we're really proud of both. :)

As a dota player, Repetitive Strain is what I worry about because of right clicking a lot.
Holy shit this video is so well made, may I ask what you used to enable you to make this masterpiece?
after effects
Love you Guys work. Thanks for the Important informations.
You can honestly fix wrist pain with just direct strengthening like any muscle tendon or joint. Something like doing front squat and building that up will turn your wrist into pure steel. You are only as strong as your weakest link. So don't have any muscle group that is lacking like lower back, rear delts, bicep tendon, or knee tendons. People snap or get hurt when something is too weak or too tight.
when you are now terrified o getting carpal tunnel.
Others: *JESUS CHRIST WHY IS MY HAND ACHING*
Me: Oh shit, my metacarpophalangeal joint is able to bend 90 degrees backwards. I should probably start being worried about the structural integrity of my hand.
I spend around 32 hours a day gaming in cs:go, portal, rainbow six siege, and other games (including driving games, but fps games are the ones i play the most.)
4 hours a day on weekdays, 6 hours a day on weekends.
No im not gonna go blind because using a monitor doesnt hurt your eyes unless you put WAAAY too much strain (bad lighting in room, not taking breaks between matches, monitor too dim or excessive contrast, etc.)
McDavid makes some great braces for people suffering from carpal tunnel or wrist aches in general.
Just take a rest if you feel pain in your wrist. Don't be stupid.
I just started experiencing pain like a week ago, quite the shitty experience, now I got heavily limited gaming time and can't just sit behind my pc in the most dumb positions that I used to :/ Stay safe kids.
Patrik Jularić how much did you play
The last 2 years I cut down due to school, had like 4-5h a day (at times more), prior to that for like 8 years, 7-8h, sometimes even 12+
This video was so great thank you
I can't play guitar longer than 5 minutes now because of carpal tunnel. Hurts too much. Everyday I wake up in the morning, and my hand is numb, and my wrist is hurting. It's horrible.
And that's why you do hand mouse movements, not wrist.
I wish you would've also included De Quervain's Tendonitis, something that many gamers also suffer and they sometimes confuse with carpal tunnel syndrome.
I used to get bad carpal tunnel when I try harded on league, now since I switch to csgo low dpi I don't have wrist problems.
Thanks for the video!
i had this :I my hand would like cramp up dramatically as if all my bones dislocated and continuously folding in half
Interesting.
I wonder if my( rather unusual) control scheme has this problem.
Shin lim, one of the best magician currently has carpal tunnel and i think he is the proof carpal tunnel can be overcomed !
I have/had CTS in both wrists for years and I undergone many treatments. Eventually I had a surgery for my keyboard hand that eliminated many of my issues. I still have issues with my mouse hand and did not had a surgery yet. Using a vertical mouse really reduced many of the issues I had. I wish there would be vertical gamine mice though...
I'm studying Animation and I love gaming and drawing, but CT makes it so hard. At its best, the pain is minor and there's only numbness and subtle tingly pain. But at its worst, the pain goes from my ring finger down to my forearm, with extreme pain around my wrist and numbness a little further down, and so much weakness in my hand I can barely close it into a fist. I can barely draw for thirty minutes before I stop because the pain becomes almost unbearable, sometimes I can't sleep and I can't play certain games the way I used to even though I'm learning how to aim with my arm and not wrist. It's a pretty shitty pain.
Hey try our exercises here, hope they help you: th-cam.com/video/Mlvu7jlmt5A/w-d-xo.html
bro i thought i had carpal tunnel but nah this guy made me feel safe and like i am just a little pain on mah wrist
I had to get surgery that's how sever my carpal tunnel was.
great stuff, keep it up!
Thanks, we will!
