Made this today, following your instructions. It is the bomb. Our Walmart no longer carries Macaroons, so I used two of the Soft & Chewy Great Value Chocolate Chippers. It is delicious. And, just like ya'll...I couldn't wait until tomorrow!
For extra richness, I will fix a large box of chocolate instant pudding, and spread over the cookies before add the whipped topping. Double trouble! But so good!

What other cookie would you recommend besides the coconut one? I immediately went to put the items in my cart for a Walmart pickup and my Walmart doesn’t have those 😒
You could use almost any type of cookie for this recipe. I just checked and our Walmart is out of them also but they had some coconut crisp cookies that were more expensive.
You don't mention what the other kind of cookies are you're using. I know one is chocolate chips. Can't see the label on the other bag. Are some kinds of cookies better than others (that go together). Have you ever tried these with real whipped cream? I hate Cool Whip. Easy recipe and I bet it goes over well at potlucks. I'm getting up in age. This is my kind of recipe.

try adding an instant pudding to the cool whip. You dont need to dunk the cookies in milk..they soften from the cool whip

The other cookies are coconut macaroons. You could substitute the cookies for almost any of your favorite cookies.
It sure does take a while to make not a quick dessert
