Hey Brad, I've got a ratty old rotten deck out back. Should I replace it? I mean, you can walk on it, but it's hanging down, bounces, is peeling badly, and has a lot of rot. I'm hoping to get out of this house within a few months and most of what I know I need to fix is sort of obvious, but not sure about the deck.
I would say you should definitely replace any sagging or rotten deck boards. It sounds like you have a potential trip hazard. I would try to make the deck stable again, without starting from scratch. Odds are, the new owners will probably replace the deck anyway. I hope this helps.
