    A bleach solution can be made out of 250 milliliters of medical hydrogen peroxide mixed with 15 milliliters of food grade white vinegar. Get the temperature up by placing the bleach in an 1100 watt microwave oven for 30 seconds on high 100% power. It can take up to 12 minutes for it to work after you pour it into the developing tank. You will know the bleaching is done once the fizzing sound stops. After the 2nd developer is complete the film will have a yellow stain. Fix it in AquaSafe that is used to make tap water safe for aquarium fish for at least an hour. Basically you fix the bejeezus out of the film until it looks normal.

      @ Thanks a lot. Since Ricardo Leite's 200ml of lemon juice has 9g of citric acid, I was wondering if we could not use citric acid (powder) directly (9gr). What do you think?

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@norapetitdelavilleon6402 I have actually no idea if it works, if it's strong enough!!! I learned a lot from Ricardo … I used his basic recipe. Ask him maybe!! He's cool ;-)

    Sry about a very naive q, but why isn't it 187.5ml of 12% hydrogen peroxide to get 250ml 9%? Why 208ml? I would think 208*0.12=24.96 (~25), which is practically 10% of 250?

    • @DagieBrundert
      @DagieBrundert 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmm, I get 187.5 = 13.5% … (you need 250 ml of 9% peroxide or 125 ml of 18% … 187.5 is just in the middle as is 13.5 too …) … that's how I calculated.
      But anyway: the recipe is not quite exact bur works anyway, it's more about guessing and trying …

    I'm about to buy all the stuff you used in this video. Are there any changes on the recipe or are you happy with the results? Thanks in advance!

    • @DagieBrundert
      @DagieBrundert 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the bleach is crucial. The peroxide and the acetic acid. Tried it a few times and the recipe is alright but it also depends on the film stock of course.

      @@DagieBrundert cool, thanks for your reaction. Just ordered the ingredients for the bleach, exciting times. Gonna try a Kodak Tri-x reversal film super 8.

      @@de4edag good luck! A fresh TriX is always a good idea! I had good results with it as well as with an old Kodachrome!

    Do you need to throw away the bleach or can you use it more often? Very helpful video! Soon I will develop my first Super 8 Film, I‘m still waiting for my Lomo Tank...

      more than once!!!! (I don't know how often, didit three or four times. Be carefull: the bottle you keep it in will blow up! Open it every now and then to release air!!!!)

    I found the acetic acid smells sooo strange! Similar to fish and chips. I was using acetic acid glacial though, it did not work haha.

    Sehr gut erklärt...ABER.....Punktabzug in der A-Note, wegen der fehlenden Schutzkleidung :D Na gut...Caffenol ist nicht so gefährlich.
