I’m wondering if lipid bilayer means double membrane. I just serached and it said double membrane organelles are only nucleus mitochondria and chloroplasts.. so .. they are not the same ..?
I'm not an expert, but I believe that even though there is a lipid-bilayer, it doesn't mean that each lipid layer forms its own membrane. Rather, two sets of lipids form one membrane. I hope this helps, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
if I remember correctly, a bilayer refers to the fact that there are two layers of phospholipids due to the hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails ( the lipids need to line up so that the tails are facing each other because they do not like water)
