I played Rhime of the Ancient Mariner in my 10th grade British Literature class on vinyl for my class project, which was deciphering Samuel Taylor Cooleridges poem in the mid-section. The teacher ruled her eyes when I told her how long the song was haha. My class loved it. It was 1989.

Not easy to shine as a songwriter when you are next to Harris, but this one, Revelations, Empire of the Clouds... Guitarists are also at another level here. Your playing is also great as usual.
Years ago i've read an article (probably on an "Number of the Beast" anniversary) that says that "Children of the Damned" was the first Maiden song written by Bruce but was credited to Steve for contractual reasons. To me it makes sense in terms of songwriting style but i've never been able to find other sources to confirm it. "If Eternity Should Fail" is another amazing piece.

Absolutely amazing Nico. I am 54 years old and I bought this LP when it was just released. Started to learn the songs right away but did not have the skills yet back then. The hardest part of the solo to figure out for me is that Adrian Smith lick with his patented top two strings he does. For a long time I just couldn't get it. Wasn't until I saw him playing Wasted Years solo I figured it out. Powerslave is one of those albums I still listen to all the time. I never get tired of it. On my way to work the other day I listened to it again.

I cannot stop praising this Bruce Dickinson gem: the Egyptian riff, the clean mid section with which I consider the best Murray solo what a taste man, then Adrian´s solo, the later double harmony, this timeless song has EVERYTHING a Maiden asks for. This is one of my favorites. Killer verses, and the standard Dave and Adrian trading solos, followed by that harmony and another Dave solo symmetric with Adrian's kicks so much ass... and you nailed it perfectly!

just amazing! with this video i just found out that i accentuate the chorus gallop in a different way... the instrumental part in this song is from another world. also in dave's second solo i love throwing a wild pinch harmonic in the first vibrato at the beginning it's always a pleasure watching your covers

We saw, on Sunday 21/7/2024, the best performance Bruce has ever given on Greek ground. Believe me, it was equal to the 1982 live, Fight 666 and En Vivo performances. Accept were very very good with Joel Hoekstra on stage, even with the evening sun and Judas were ... Judas!!. There is a breeze of fresh air with the duo of Richie Faulkner - Andy Sneap. Andy also got on stage with Accept for one song. Also Bruce performance was long (I did not kept record of time) but there is a video of his whole performance which lasts 1 hour and 22 minutes!!! Maybe due his last visit with Iron Maiden and him being angry (he was right) but overreacted verbally, he gave us some extra treats...

I appreciate that very much! Of course, a chance to play with them even in a tiny rehearsal room would be a lifelong dream come true...but in all honesty, Iron Maiden has done way more for me over the past four decades than I could ever do for them. I'm just thankful that I am able to exist in a time and place where I have been able to enjoy their music and legacy up until now. 😊
