they asked him the stupidest question ever.. should there be regulation or solve this through innovation? wtf... regulation might be needed.. the reason is that google, yes, gets punished on the stock market for such huge blunders but most AI companies will not get that kind of press coverage, so they won't be. That is why regulation is needed. Unless of course you want all these AI results to be left leaning and/or woke, instead something approximating neutrality. And the innovation.. you don't need innovation, you need to tell these clowns at google to stop adding to the user's prompt things that make what would be otherwise accurate pictures, ridiculously diversified.
No and you don't need to write in capital letters. This is capitalist gibberish. Free market and innovation are supposed are limited as well. This is a crude simplification. Government needs to step in whenever free market dynamics can't solve a problem or when they don't serve the public interest. Think about pollution, exorbitant rent, cost of education or meds prices. Cooperate interest is against public interest in these cases. In many cases there isn't even a free market to begin with. For example, if your life depends on one specific medication.
In the case of AI, I can give you detailed technical information.
Machine learning models always need a set bias during training. Bias is a part that makes those models work. It "stabilizes" the variance of the results to similar inputs, so you basically generate consistency. You need to set it some way and you better mandate it to hold decent standards. Similarly you should mandate to implement standards for better journalism. I am not from the U.S. but what I see what you call "news" is really trash. You need unbiased objective and both sided analysis of problems. You need more news from publically funded independent sources. I'd suppose npr is one of those but I can't tell if they have any bias leaning one way or the other. Don't just stick to one news "Cooperation". They will just tell you what pleases your mind set.
