LYRICS (taken from TH-cam video description):
    Crave the machine
    Revere the screen
Zoom in for flak and misery
    Bleed some pixels
    Shoot yourself
    Pose for the dead
    Have a near-life experience
    In a hot air matrix
    Now you're a star
    Vain avatar
    Feeding the beast
    In your loud Egoland
    You have become
    Tool of a tool
    Digital ghouls
    Telling you to
    Shut up and dance!
Color a yarn and the crowds will gather
    Noise
    From a sunless world
Your mirror is black, only a copy stares back
At a slave of brave new world
    Noise
    To decoy the human voice
    Brain insomniac, paranoiac
    Endless noise
    Please love me
    See how I bleed
    Please endure
I have such empathy in me
    Hum, noise, hum
    Beautifully numb
    Tapping the quiet air
    To have a meaning
    By a carrion
    Sad hologram
    Lost in the maze
    The real and human feel
    Sunset is free
    From this deity
The Earth has a real voice
    Go out and get in
    I will follow
Color a yarn and the crowds will gather
    Noise
    From a sunless world
Your mirror is black, only a copy stares back
At a slave of brave new world
    Noise
    To decoy the human voice
    Brain insomniac, paranoiac
    Endless noise
Feast your eyes on the black mirror
Feed the beast, join the gathering
    Tell a tale
Feast of fears is drawing nearer
    Beyond the human horizon
    Something terrifying sleeps
    Noise
    From a sunless world
Your mirror is black, only a copy stares back
At a slave of brave new world
    Noise
    To decoy the human voice
    Brain insomniac, paranoiac
    Endless noise

Wow. As always, guys, you two provide so much valid insight into the wonderful world of Nightwish and the mind of Tuomas Holopainen. This is one of my favorite studio productions by Nightwish. Normally, I prefer the reactions to the amazing live Nightwish performances, but this is worthy of reaction and analysis. Awesome and thank you.

👍Yes guys, you did a wonderfull job in analyzing this song,In a way,it has a positive message at the end"look around you ,enjoy nature,go out the bubble"but it gives also a nightmare scenario ,some of these "things"are already going on and if we are not carefull ,the only way to enjoy nature or the "real"world ,is by technology.🤔
Immediatly was thinking about ,live concerts, where everybody is watching a live concert trough their mobile phones.😏
    Great song and video🤘

I love this song and music video because it attacks four things that need to be attacked - addiction to social media, hypocrisy (from both the left and the right), tribalism and the loss of appreciation for the beauty, both nature and art, still around us.

Great reaction and analysis! You’re right on point! Tuomas had said in an interview, that he has nothing against the technology. It’s the side effects that are the problem.

    🤩👍💥💯🎼
Vast majority of us has their ´black mirror´ right there in front of our noses very often, even now at this very moment when typing this down and some might even read the text...Screen without any power is usually black, ´till it gets powered on of electricity and stops reflecting that ´black copy´ of us, at least not so clearly and visibly noticeable.
A similar "phenomenon" can be seen in the video, a greyish black window-like "pulsating screen" on the wall. Which someone could interpret as the content of whatever is visible in the video inside that frame/screen( the webs)...Aaaahhhh
The actual beauty lies precisely in how each person interprets things in their lyrics (+ images on this particular video)
Nicely Done guys and keep on rockin´ with them!

Itai, you were spot on when you said this is a criticism, not of technology, but of the human addiction to technology.

...As Mr. Holopainen likes to pull off a little ´wörd - playing´ quite often...A pun here and there could take you anywhere...In a Finn´s mind english as a language is very practical for those "fun´n´pun - games"...

    Hi guys, greetings from UK
Someone pointed out the other day something which I had never picked up on. The floor where people are strapped to tables in the forest is a honeycomb pattern, and that is repeated in the main room. This is to depict a hive mind. That is a cool reference

This is the perfect song to open a concert with. It has that power and drive to get the audience adrenalized. They did not disappoint. I think the video represents how technology/commercialism (influencers/snake oil salesmen) have become the main function of society. They put the helmet/blinders on us at such a young age now, that we don't realize there's a big beautiful world out there. Thanks for the reaction. Cheers!

At Tampere 2015 ( Weak fantasy ❤, The Islander, Greatest show on earth)
Buenos Aires 2018 ( Dead boys poem, I want my tears back, Devil and the deep dark ocean)
And finally young Floor with her band After Forever singing Dreamflight live at Progpower 2007 ( Progmetal)th-cam.com/video/73-_F9prx4I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-scOYpy5PBuuzGjE

Tuomas has said he was inspired by "The Black Mirror" tv show. So much social commentary in a 5 minute song. Noise comes in many forms. Now you should check out the live version. They opened the show with this one on the latest tour. See link. Why not a double shot. "Noise" straight into "Tribal"?

    • @billattercliffe8655

This is more likely a reference to a British TV series "Black Mirror" that refers to a dystopian near future.

    • @treintje1001
      @treintje1001 หลายเดือนก่อน

@rayraudebaugh5395 Exactly. It refers to the black surface of the smartphone. The surface that people use to look at themselves in their own vanity.
      "Noise
      From the sunless world
Your mirror is black, only a copy stares back
At a slave of brave new world"
The copy is the digital image of yourself, displayed on the screen.

You did a great analysis of this amazing song (that sounds great under the shower or in the car)
    some details:
Addiction to oil is also part of this song: apart from Tuomas in a tub with oil playing with a rubber ducky you can see Troy wearing a crown in the shape of an oil rig.
At some point where Troy gets up you can see the Capitol, with a golden toilet bowl in front of it: this clip was made in Trump times!
The bubbling wall is representing internet data
All "monks" are watching the same screen on their cell phone (white), when one of them (Emppu) is watching something else (red) he is rejected/killed, one of the bystanders (Kai) not intervening but making selfies with the victim.
The mirror in the background is mentioned in the lyrics:
    "From the sunless world
Your mirror is black, only a copy stares back"
(The mirror is your cell phone/tablet etc: if you switch it off, it is dead, a black mirror)
The woman sitting in the chair getting botox is the same as the fotomodel in red, but before being transformed to a beautiful diva (in reality she is Jessica Edström, famous model from Sweden)
The message of this song is also in the lyrics:
    "Beyond the human horizon
    Something terrifying sleeps"
And in the last shot: Outside this madness there is still the real world (fitting the theme of this album: the universe, earth and us)
