“I love this dude” I said that out loud as I was watching this Thank you man. I just want to be able to combine my production skills with my rapping ability. It’s not as simple as plugging in a mic and hitting record haha
Listen up all you Ditherers. This is important. If you are learning how to record WavyWayne is the place to go. I’ve been pouring over the internet for years and I can tell you from a point of wisdom that there are countless mixers, masterers and ditherers that have infinite knowledge of recording but there are very few teachers. Just because you know things doesn’t mean you have the ability to impeccably impart that knowledge to others. You have to be a teacher to do that. WavyWayne is that teacher. He just might be the top of the list of individuals who have the ability to give you his knowledge in a way that you can actually utilize it with minimum confusion. We all know that people are born with the ability to play a musical instrument. We all know that people are born with the ability to sing. In the same way teachers are born with this gift of teaching. WavyWayne has this gift outright. I’m not telling you to avoid other tutorials. I’m saying that if you want the best the internet has for free, awesome learning WavyWayne is the place to go. Don’t take this lightly and don’t hold the fact that he does rap almost exclusively against him. (Yea, Wavy. I can joke too) Copy and paste this so others will know. Thanks Wavy!
Bro when it comes to tutorials you the 🐐. They never boring you get straight to the point and explain everything in a way that makes sense. I would pay to learn from you real talk.
Wayne bro *YOU ARE AWESOME* I subscribed your channel last year but i never saw any of your videos, i just had to switch from mac to windows because my macbook got stuck in lockdown and i am working on my original R&b songs right now. I saw this and other videos of yours to learn using pro tools as i was using logic in mac and i am amazed man, your tutorials are the best tutorials. Respect bro 🙏
I’m watching another TH-cam vid of yours & this is talent. I truly feel like i can understand you within the vocals going deeper into the steadiness of the waves. Love your Mental bro. I’m going to get into this because of you. A lot of Potential, you have.
Yooooo Wavy Wayne, Here's another tip. If I'm looking for frequencies that I don't like, I use subtractive-EQ on the stock 7-Band EQ and press CTRL - Shift To Invert A Band Of EQ while sweeping it across the spectrum to give clearer idea of what frequencies I don't like. Then I pull out about 2 or 3 DB to give me that clean vocal. Just adding to the frequency sweep that I saw on the 11:40 mark. Blessings
So I found your channel in my recommends and this is the first video I have watched. I have watched a bunch of other guys, but I really like your energy and you take your time in explaining. Definitely a new subscriber and will be joining the Wavy Seals! God Bless brother!
The piece on the parallel compression technique is exactly what I was looking for. I have guitar pedals that have wet/dry mix - it was a ‘duh’ moment when you showed that for compression on a DAW. The two-track method to get there - loved it! You just got a new sub 🤘🏻❤️✌🏻
Man I really appreciate you, I recently started interning here at a studio in Baltimore a year ago and even though I've been Producing for years I really want to get better at mixing my instrumentals and vocals. I learned so much from this video and I feel confident in running another session after having a bad session ( latency issue in headphones ) thank you man.
Hahaha naww I still pay for a good mix it pays! But I def did want it to mix my remixes and ya know pick it up for the passion! What kinda music you make bro?
Great video and great song. A lot of gems for sure. Question, would you send all your mono vocal tracks to a mono aux track or does that only apply for parallel compression?
i agree normally around same level as snare or little bit lower or also guitars or lead intruments depending on mix cuz dont really wnat mix to sound like it pop or hip hop everytime so key is good mixing and balance and you can have vocal sit right next to a big string section or even bass guitar
Thanks fam, definitely using these tips. Can you do a video on importing vocals to Pro Tools that were recorded using a different DAW. Say that someone who didn’t have PT but Reaper instead and them sending files over to you for mixing in PT.
Love the work you're doing sir, much respect! Can you tell me what you're using to record your video's and how are you recording your voice without headphones, do you have a separate mix happening? Thx Ash
Dude I'm not into the kind of music you usually mix but this video was BANG! BANG! Thanks for sharing this, all the best to ya. BTW the dude who sang the track kills it big time.
Hey hey mr Wayne I brought two of your templates asking a question? I add a x.compression mono bus for parallel compression & a stereo sub bus for all my vocals to go to My question on the output of the mono bus of the xcomp should my output go to a effect bus like the Efx that come with the template ?? Please help out appreciated 🙏🏽
6:32 Wouldn't SideChaining the vocal to the Snare be the way to let the Vocal "Sit in"? 11:55 if you are looking for that frq why your Q is that wide? Is that because more narrow EQing might create more artifacts, but you wanna "keep it natural"? 22:44 I could've lower the original one ~-1dB prior to bringing up the compressed one, aint that right?
That song is fire, who did that song & where can I play it.. That's 🔥

Thank you man. I just want to be able to combine my production skills with my rapping ability. It’s not as simple as plugging in a mic and hitting record haha
Taking the time to automate volume levels (pre fx) is worth the effort. Sets the standard compressor to work more efficiently and transparently

6:32 Wouldn't SideChaining the vocal to the Snare be the way to let the Vocal "Sit in"?
11:55 if you are looking for that frq why your Q is that wide? Is that because more narrow EQing might create more artifacts, but you wanna "keep it natural"?
22:44 I could've lower the original one ~-1dB prior to bringing up the compressed one,
aint that right?
So I have protools 10 can I do this same thing you did or it’s different because I can’t find what you did

Do you have a gate on the vocals? If not, what is the yellow/orange indicator on vocal channel
