We went to Songkran 2024 and it was absolutely epic.
We're currently in Bangkok, we've had the best time at Songkran festival & can't wait to do it again.
Songkran in Thai New Year, its a water festival where they wash away the previous year & everyone gets cleansed and ready for the coming year. It is SO MUCH FUN.
Can't wait to check it out again next Year!

Guys you are having fun like no tomorrow, and the funny thing is we where there in Siam and after 30 mins we got out and went to Iconsiam where the fun started.
I highly recommend next year because the crowd is wild and water is everywhere for free.I had the best time of my life i was transported back to my teens and enjoyed every second of Songkran and i can't wait until the next one.
Glad your gang enjoyed every minute and hopefully we meet up next year and hopefully do the whole Songkran in Chiang.🙏🙏 Mai.

During Songkran, families usually gather and pour water on the hands of elders to pay respect and wish them good health.
Plenty of people getting respected that day for sure! It’s a beautiful tradition and so nice to see a fun side had come out of it too! Bringing people from all over the world to celebrate 😊🙏

We had no expectations and a very open mind going in! Hahaha we had fun & we’re doing it again today. 🤣❤️
Songkran is not just splashing water and partying, but we Thai people have done:
** Merit making and giving alms to monks. It is considered to create merit for oneself and dedicate merit to those who have passed away. 🙏
** Pouring water to wish each other a happy new year The water that is poured is usually perfumed with ordinary water and sprinkled with jasmine flowers.
** Buddha bathing involves pouring water on Buddha images at home and at temples, and in some places, monks are also bathed.
** Requiem ashes, bones of dead elderly relatives Often formed into a pagoda Then invited the monk to requiem.
** Watering adults. It means going to give blessings to respected elders and teachers. 🙏
There are also many ceremonies according to the beautiful traditions of Thailand that cannot be found in other peoples. 🌎

My first Songkran was 1992 and I sneaked down soi diana (quiet then) trying to avoid drenching and low and behold they got me from a water truck with hoses with nowhere to hide, by the afternoon i got so fed up with it i went down to Pattaya beach and threw myself in the sea since then i had two more Songkrans and never again, sorry not a fan but glad to see people happy that are.
Hahahha your songkran story made us laugh, I think lots of people don’t like it, plenty of people around Bangkok today trying to avoid a splashing. It’s definitely not for everyone😅😅
