Why I stopped Moto-Vlogging & is Royal Enfield to blame?

  • Hey everyone, I’m back from the wilderness as I thought it was about time to provide all of you folks with an explanation about why I stopped MotoVlogging abruptly.
And what does Royal Enfield have to do with any of this? Well, Siddhartha Lal (CEO & MD) has been talking passionately about creating a motorcycling community in the wake of the new 650 CC twins that were launched. He has been extremely amped up about the state of the art showrooms and investing in a knowledgeable and enthusiastic sales team that make a customer feel welcome and engaged.
Was that the experience I had at the Royal Enfield Indiranagar Showroom in Bangalore? Watch the video to find out for yourself.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - Within a day of the video being posted, the showroom owner Mr.Jayprakash called me up to discuss the issue and apologized for the unpleasant experience. He informed me that the sales person in question had turned out to be a bad hire and had been let go a few months back due to issues related to his attitude and performance. Even though he was hired at a senior level as a “Brand Champ”, they realized within a couple of months that it wasn’t a prudent hiring decision and decided to part ways with him. He also acknowledged the importance of a positive customer experience and assured that they will train their staff to be friendly and engaging.
The speed and agility with which Royal Enfield responded to this is surely a positive indication that they are willing to listen.
If you are an RE fan, please head over to the Indiranagar showroom or any other dealership close to you and share what your experience is like.

That's an improvement indeed. I've been a regular at the showroom for many years for accessory purchases from time to time and have also purchased 2 bikes from them. Never had an unpleasant experience and the initial vlog was indeed a shocker. I can personally vouch for the customer experience at Indiranagar Royal Enfield and it has always been welcoming and cordial like an extended family of sorts. So thank you The Savant Life for further clarity on the issue.

I'd purchased my RE Himalayan from the same showroom just over 6 months ago. They always had a lethargic approach towards the sales aspect and didn't really bother whether they sold a vehicle or not. The brand motto is 'Your ride starts here' when a motorcycle rolls out and handed over to the customer. However, it starts before that from the moment you step in and I've never had a positive impression from day 1 and the whole process was quite a hassle. There would be others who can vouch for the same, I'm sure. But I must give due credits where it's required and this person in question (not sure of his name), was pretty approachable and warm to talk to. Didn't face an issue with him specifically. But I understand where you're coming from.

So instead of shunting around different showrooms, I would much rather make the kind of content that I want to make about several different topics that will occasionally include motorcycles too.

Not only in Bangalore even here in Chennai these royal enfield crack heads are full of ego. Even government employees would treat their customers with more hospitality than these clowns. There are more bikes out there with lesser CC that can easily outperform their metal junks, it's just that there are a lot of brainless RE fans who don't realise this truth fall prey to this brand. There are still tons of bikes out there that could use your review Savant. For me your Gixxer review will always remain my personal favourite, wacky one of a kind review. Keep going Savant 👍

    Straight to the point

RE should take necessary action against that chap at the Indranagar showroom. He has absolutely no right to deny a customer a test ride. Again, he do not represent Royal Enfield as a brand. You don't need to take him so seriously... just walk into another store and you should get the treatment u deserve as a social media influencer. Best of luck!

Every other "chokra boy" (in Sid Lal's linguistic register) is trying to make a video on bikes and while some of them are good, most others are terrible. You on the contrary are a maker of tremendously high quality vlogs. Your commentary and English is impeccable - a viewers treat, if I may say so. Please do not stop making vlogs. I too had a similar experience at Whitefield RE, back in Oct '18. Was determined to buy Himalayan. I needed it on an urgent basis as well. I went to the showroom, in a casual dress and torn jeans... Let's just say like a vagabond. I enquired about the bike and its availability and all awhile they seemed quite indifferent. I was told that there was one last piece, buy that too would take a couple of weeks for the bank to sanction loans. I told them that I didn't need any loans and was waiting, just glancing at the bike. Meanwhile, a high profile customer came with "executive" looks and charms and demand the same last piece. I was just awestruck at the way in which they dealt with him, standing and greeting with a smug face. They gave him the last piece and I was left standing. When I went back to them and asked about the motorcycle, they said it just got booked. The mixed emotions just dashing through my face was just too much. I literally walked out of the showroom and went to Khivraj Bajaj, from where I booked a dominar which was delivered two days later. That was a decision I'd never regret. Its been 8 months, 20K km, not a single part replaced other than filters....not even clutch and throttle cable

He said this SHOWROOM do not need marketing. It's HIS SHOWROOM and services, products from ROYAL ENFIELD. If he don't want marketing for his SHOWROOM then what is the issue? Dude, Sid and that guy is in the same extreme but you are in another dimension. Learn the difference between Product Marketing and outlet Marketing.

OMG ! Yesterday I went to your Instagram profile to see if you were active there but you haven't posted anything recently there too.
I was eagerly waiting for your review of Yamaha FZ/FZS V3, cause when you ride your Yamaha it just shows in video how much you love it.
Please don't get down by these kind of people, and do everything you want to do with the channel but please occasionally do reviews too.
As a Yamaha fanboy waiting for FZ V3 review hehe....

I was a sales consultant at Royal Enfield in Bangalore and I quit the job after just three months because of the way my colleagues and our showroom used to treat our customers, I can surely tell that I would never want to be a customer to that showroom.
We got wonderful training directly from Royal Enfield on how to treat customers but nobody used to follow that at work,
Royal Enfield is trying to give its customers a beautiful experience of motorcycling but it is not reaching the customers because of the managers and owners of dealerships..
    Felt very bad.

That showroom guy had no idea what he wanted to speak. Anyways lot more content can be done in this field apart from first impression and all the same content done by other creators too. Keep uploading videos be it saying just a hello to people or sharing how was ur day.

That's exactly what happened when I had been to TVS SHOWROOM at Devegowda circle at banashankari. Denied giving me a test ride of RR310 and when I asked how will people know about the bike without riding one. They say if you want it just book it and he just walked away.
Thats when I stopped vloging bro.

There was an incident that happened in Indra Nagar apparently where a guy took the bike for a test ride and had a couple of guys waiting for him to bring the bike. Once the bike got to the corner couple of his friends pulled out the showroom guy and rode the bike off. I heard that's why they are worried to give bike for test rides

I had a similar experience with one of Honda showroom here in Chennai. Went to get CBR 250 and a guy over there treated me the same... and then I went to KTM 390 and got 15 KM test ride... bought one... I also understand it is not about brand it differ from showroom to showroom. 😊

Same thing happened to me in 2016 when I went to Re showroom to book Himalayan. I still remember the rude behavior of the salesperson, so just dropped it and booked a RS200 and I am happy with it. I have no regrets. But they loose a customer like me who hardly uses a bike max 1-2 years.

Hi. I'm 57 and I'm also a marketing Guy and I commute on Motorcycle. Some time ago I approached a Bajaj showroom for Pulsar 220F test ride. The sales guy wanted to know whether it's for my Son. With such attitude what can anyone except?

Simply ridiculous how this guy behaved. These are the guys who take the cult following of RE for granted. I've been following you and really liked your content.
I'm a passionate biker first and also run an authorized Mahindra Mojo Exclusive dealership - Nafs Motors at Banaswadi, Bangalore. Mojo is a brilliant tourer but honestly is quite underrated. The people who own it really love it and slowly it's building it's own cult following..You're most welcome to come try out the bike or even have it for a day. We could even do it over a breakfast ride and hit the highway. I'd also be happy to offer you my Triumph Daytona 675R 😃

When I went to test ride they asked this same question whether u r going to buy or just test riding... how can a person just buy a vehicle by seeing or riding a single vehicle which costs more than 2.5 lakh... need to grow a lot.... RE

Nice video.. i visited RE banshankari showroom in bangalore but the experience was quite the opposite. The sales person there was very friendly and offered me test ride immediately, i booked interceptor the very next week.
However i had a similar experience in tata showroom in jayanagar, i am/was currently looking to upgrade from my current tata car to a harrier. The sales person there was so rude because i had a soft copy of my driving licence. Being a tata car owner it was very disheartening to be treated that way when i asked for a test drive. I have dropped the plan to go for another tata.
Maybe i would have liked the car or maybe not idk, the sales team should understand that a mouth to mouth publicity not only builds brands but also brings business to them. And they should be taught that its not only about sales but the customer experience matter.
Such negative experiences should not happen when anyone visits a showroom and i can really relate to your experience.

Dear sir you're absolutely correct at your point.... People at this position should know how to communicate which this guy absolutely did not know..... And it's going to harm their marketing. Also I think it's this guy's fault as well as the company's in appointing such people
