"If a person is not in charge of themselves, they are not free" This hit home for me - for too long I was addicted to bad food and put on loads of weight and became obese. Since I started a weight loss program and lost 5 stone in 6 months and now go to the gym every day, I feel so free.

Congratulations on your incredible journey to self-mastery and transformation! Your commitment to a weight loss program and daily gym sessions is a powerful testament to taking charge of yourself. As the quote suggests, true freedom often begins with self-discipline and control. Your achievements not only reflect physical changes but also embody the liberating power of personal responsibility. Wishing you continued success on your path to health and well-being! 🌟💪 #SelfMasteryJourney

@@RS-of8od It's not uncommon to feel that way, especially when living with others for an extended period. Finding a sense of autonomy and personal space is crucial for one's well-being. Stoicism can offer some insights here. Reflect on what aspects of your life you can control and focus on those. Also, consider open communication with those you live with about your need for personal space and autonomy. Remember, the power to shape your perspective lies within you. If you have any specific questions or need further guidance, feel free to share! 🌿 #Autonomy #Stoicism

I have learned a lot from these stoic teachings. It has been akin to a confirmation of information that I innately was born with but needed to have validation. Thank you and I for one will continue with the valuable lessons you have to offer. By the way, the narrator's voice is such that it leaves an indelible impression. I don't think you could have chosen a better narrator.

Hello, fellow Stoic enthusiasts and the Just Stoic community! 🌟 It's fascinating how these ancient principles are still so relevant in our modern lives.
I'm curious to know, which of these 10 habits resonated the most with you and why? Personally, the habit of 'Amor Fati' (love of fate) really struck a chord with me. It's a powerful reminder to embrace everything that happens, including challenges, as opportunities for growth.
Also, if you've tried to incorporate any of these habits into your daily routine, I'd love to hear about your experiences. How has it changed your perspective or approach to daily challenges?
Let's start a conversation and share our journeys towards self-reinvention in 2024! 💭✨

Hello! 🌟 I resonate deeply with the habit of "Amor Fati" as well. Embracing every aspect of our journey, the good and the challenging, empowers us to find meaning and growth in all experiences. This Stoic principle has transformed the way I perceive setbacks and difficulties, turning them into opportunities for personal development.
Incorporating Stoic habits into my daily routine has brought about a significant shift in perspective. Practicing gratitude, focusing on what I can control, and maintaining a sense of tranquility amid chaos have been particularly impactful. It's remarkable how these ancient principles continue to guide and enrich our lives in the modern world.
I'd love to hear from others in the Just Stoic community! Which habits resonate with you, and how have they influenced your journey toward self-reinvention in 2024? Let's share our insights and support one another on this Stoic path! 💡🌿

I can relate very well of saying "yes" to a situation where I wanted to say no. For a long while, I would always try my best and please people instead of pleasing myself. It does nothing but drain you, mentally. Since following this channel and watching a lot of these videos, it has definitely reshaped my way of thinking. Now, if I do not want to do something or go anywhere, I have no problem saying "no". I definitely am not being antisocial, it is just that I value my time alone as I have began spending it doing healthy habits such as martial arts, doing research on how to start a business, and staying in the gym. It feels amazing to finally be free of people pleasing. I have found love and respect for myself and my time. Thank you so much for the inspirational videos. Keep them coming, please. It has definitely changed my life, for the better, and I am happy to be where I am. Onward and upward. Thank You :)

Often when I wake up I will play a motivational video go get motivated. I had found that Stoicism is very compatible with other teachers such as Jesus, Buddha, Confucius and many other great teachers, philosophers, leaders and great people. I try to live by it. When I was a young adult I had read many of the old motivational books like Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, Norman Vincent Peale and changed my life a lot from them no matter what people say these days. They worked for me.

I'm not a therapist, but I can offer some general suggestions from a Stoic perspective. It's crucial to acknowledge that dealing with trauma often requires professional support. However, from a Stoic viewpoint:
      1. Acceptance: Start by accepting that the past cannot be changed. This doesn't diminish the pain but helps in acknowledging reality.
      2. Focus on the Present: Stoicism emphasizes the power of the present moment. Practice mindfulness to ground yourself in the "here and now."
      3. Seek Virtue: Strive for inner virtue in how you respond to challenges. This might involve cultivating courage to face your past or finding wisdom in seeking professional help.
      4. Control Your Responses: While you can't change the past, you can choose how to respond to it. Stoicism teaches that our thoughts and reactions are within our control.
      5. Gratitude: Despite past difficulties, focus on aspects of your life for which you're grateful. This shift in perspective can foster resilience.
Remember, seeking professional help is crucial for addressing trauma. If you're comfortable, consider reaching out to a therapist or counselor who specializes in trauma. They can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation. #StoicHealing #SeekSupport

      @Stoicism.Everyday101  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Embarking on the journey to quit smoking is a commendable decision, and starting small can be an effective approach. Here are some tips to help you begin:
Set a Quit Date: Choose a specific date to quit smoking. This can mentally prepare you for the change.
Identify Triggers: Pay attention to situations or emotions that trigger the urge to smoke. Once identified, find alternative ways to cope with these triggers.
Gradual Reduction: Instead of quitting abruptly, consider gradually reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke each day. This can make the transition smoother.
Find Alternatives: Replace the act of smoking with healthier alternatives, such as chewing gum, snacking on fruits, or practicing deep breathing exercises.
Seek Support: Share your goal with friends, family, or a support group. Having a support system can provide encouragement and accountability.
Celebrate Milestones: Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, whether it's a day, a week, or a month without smoking. Rewarding yourself can reinforce positive behavior.
Professional Help: Consider seeking guidance from a healthcare professional or enrolling in smoking cessation programs. They can provide personalized strategies and support.
Remember, the journey to quit smoking is unique to each individual. Be patient with yourself, stay committed to your goal, and seek help when needed. Every small step you take is a significant stride toward a healthier, smoke-free life.

What if you have isolated yourself due to a successful smear campaign run by an ex and it looks to everyone like hes right? How do you build a circle of friends then?

    • @Stoicism.Everyday101
      @Stoicism.Everyday101  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Certainly! If you've faced a smear campaign and want to build new friendships:
      Know Yourself:
      Understand your values and identity.
      Connect with Trustworthy People:
Reach out to those who know you well.
      Explore Interests:
Join clubs or groups aligned with your hobbies.
      Online Communities:
Engage in online communities with shared interests.
      Professional Networks:
      Attend industry events or workshops.
      Volunteer:
Get involved in volunteer work for meaningful connections.
      Be Genuine:
Stay true to yourself when meeting new people.
      Professional Support:
Seek help from a therapist if needed.
      Positive Online Presence:
Showcase your positive aspects on social media.
      Be Patient:
Rebuilding takes time; focus on genuine connections.
Remember, the right people will see beyond rumors and judgments. Focus on being the best version of yourself and building connections based on shared interests and values.
While the list I provided offers practical advice for rebuilding social connections, it may not be explicitly tied to Stoicism. Stoicism, as a philosophical school, focuses on personal virtue, self-discipline, and understanding what is within our control. In the context of building relationships after a smear campaign, Stoic principles might involve:
      Self-Reflection:
Examine your reactions to external events and work on maintaining inner tranquility.
      Virtue as the Highest Good:
Prioritize virtuous behavior and moral character in your interactions.
      Acceptance of the Uncontrollable:
Recognize that you cannot control others' opinions but can control your responses.
      Focus on the Present:
Concentrate on the present moment and building positive connections.
      Cultivate Resilience:
Develop resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks.
While the practical advice aligns more with general social strategies, incorporating Stoic principles can enhance your approach to relationships.

    • @Stoicism.Everyday101
      @Stoicism.Everyday101  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

While financial resources are a practical aspect of life, Stoicism encourages us to recognize that true well-being goes beyond material wealth. It emphasizes virtues like wisdom, courage, justice, and self-discipline. Striving for these virtues contributes to a richer and more fulfilling life. Money can serve as a means to achieve certain ends, but cultivating inner qualities and a virtuous character is equally, if not more, essential for lasting contentment. May your pursuits align with both financial stability and inner fulfillment. 🌱💸
