Awww, this really brings me back. Can’t believe it’s been 20 years. I was so invested in that show and their relationship at the time. I was a little sad to see it end, but it really was for the best. She was far too immature to have been married so young, and I’m not saying that to be mean. And it was obvious that Nick and her dad didn’t get along well or really like one another. I think we all try to change at least one thing about who we are with. I really don’t believe that there is someone that just thinks their partner is perfect. I am not one of those no divorce people…but I am someone that says you should try a little before getting a divorce. I just think y’all are a little hard on nick. The man put up with joe Simpson. I love Jessica and her music When I was young I bought her cd and I am very picky I don’t like a lot of singers they got to be good and and she is special but I live an abusive and controlling and violent father so to see her spoiled like that wanting others to clean her crap just because she can afford it is wrong. Britney Spears doesn’t come from a spoiled childhood she talks about doing the dirty work and that brings me to tears because even though she’s the biggest star she doesn’t treat others like garbage. my house is not anywhere close to their house but i have a house cleaner 2x a month to deep clean but my kids put their clothes in the hamper and pick up after themselves….the cleaner does bathrooms mops the floors and wipes baseboards etc dusts lights things that I would do but don’t have time

It’s interesting watching this through adult eyes. A few things I’m hearing differently is that her parents weren’t on board at first which explains some of their weirdness towards him. It was 1000% “Jessica’s world” and Nick was “there.” No shade to Jessica but even in family scenes her family seemed transactional towards him. Given what we know about her father orchestrating things and the role (and trickery) of reality TV, I wonder how much of them blessing the marriage was driven or led by the opportunity of doing the show. I think she wrote about it a bit, but I’m saying I wonder how much of this was in fact scripted and producer driven. And by producer I mean her dad. Like yes, I get and believe they were genuinely together but how much of their story was curated for the show? Even re-hearing the story about their first kiss…it seems “convenient” or rehearsed. What is the most cringy to me, is this entire narrative is about her virginity. It’s so, cringe. I know times were different-I was there, I lived it. But what this feels like is the extension of making Jessica “the good/christian girl” who did sexuality “the right way.” I still love Jessica though 😂 she’s was funny as hell!!!
