tack just a small tab/flat on the end of the tube that you can set a level on so you can ensure you're spinning it 180 each time. draw a line with a sharpie down the length of the tube so you have a reference point when you clock your pieces. awesome video and sick welds, especially without a positioner
to adjust your saw for a pie cut
Set your protractor to the degree you want to cut (usually 4.5/9 degree)
Put it against the blade while the saw is down
Adjust the stationary vice jaw to align with the protractor and blade

U just fused the pipes together? I tried with my sawzall. The cuts were not clean enough. I ordered a portaband saw. Hopefully that will work

The technical name for those are gores, that's what you call a gored elbow. Been used in the sheet metal and HVAC industry for ever for ductwork elbows. Cool video

How do you actually cut the angles and make sure they add up to the angle you want?
On a band saw. I set it to say, 10 degrees. Then every pie is 20 degrees total.
@@HighPSItv so 10 degrees is cut angle and then transition angle is 20 and them if ou want a 80 degree bend you need 4?

Question, if the angle math gives you how many pieces will create the 90*, how do you determine how tight of a turn radius you need?
That will depend on how thick you cut each piece.
Oh, and a tight gap and no filler rod will prevent sugaring.

When is it appropriate to back purge?
All the time when welding stainless. I just dont have the rig to do it
Any time your not welding either carbon steel or aluminium.
Over time will break appart due to crevice corrosion if weld isnt fully penetrated. Of it is fully penetrated the sugared and oxidised surface will corrode and eventually crack if used in a corrosive atmosphere, wether the hydrogen sulfide in exhaust gas, chlorine or any other corrisive atmosphere.
