Exhaust Mandrel Bends, Layout and cutting

- Building exhaust can be a daunting task, especially when you are trying to maximize flow and make it look nice. Here is the easiest way I have found to lay it out and cut it with the least amount of mess and ensuring straight cuts on your tubing. Straight cuts also make for easier jigging and welding. This is my method.

Thank you so much for this video!
I'm from southern India and I can't get no local welders to pie cut a custom exhaust for me. My motorcycle is up on the jacks for a month now due to the lack of a custom bend pipe and I've been watching a lot of pie cut related stuffs on TH-cam lately. This video came as a suggestion and this is the direct solution to my problem. Thank you so much for this video once again.
Thank you so much, glad I could help
Right on, thanks for the support in the description!!!
No problem!
Excellent demo on how universal simple U bends can be! They can really be a problem solver in tight scenarios. Also, gotta get me some of those clamps!
Thank you! Absolutely the best for tight area’s. I highly recommend these clamps!
Good job appreciations 🇩🇰👍
Thank you!
Awesome!! Shop Kat said you have a great channel and he was right…
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Great info sir!!!!
Thank you! I hope it comes in handy
Some good tips in here! Good work!
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Found this from your Hotrodders post. Subscribed now!
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Thank you!!! sweet video bro. Been banging my head while fabricating my first custom exhaust :(
Thank you!
Thanks For the zip Tie thing I am going mental with a 4" Pipe like you have. Nice Tip thanks.
No problem!
"crush bends are horrific" ... haha yeah, hard to argue with that. LOL
Haha thank you!
This is exactly what I needed to know about U bends, thanks!!!!!
No problem! Glad this helped
Like the idea of the cutter you have , makes sense 👌🏻
Thank you!
Picked up some good tips...thanks!
Thank you for watching
Right on! Good info 👍😊
Thanks! Trying to pass on what I have learned along the way. Hopefully its helpful to someone else!
I think it's great to have guys helping out. Right on!👍👍
@@MagnaMachineWorks it's great to be able to support each other! 👍
This is great, thank you
Thank you!
Nice welding with kid in flash distance
I can assure you that this kid was completely safe. She was wearing a welding helmet, safety glasses and has welding gloves her own size. Also, discussing the process so that she understands the dangers and safety mitigations goes a long ways. Its not the first time this kid has been around welding, I prefer to expose them to as much garage time as possible so that I can mentor, coach and guide the next generation
Good Video!
Thank you! Appreciate it
Nice work Dave. Love the little making a cameo. Garage hangs with dad
She loves hanging in the garage! I even let her do one of the tack welds for the video!
Great video! Keep the content coming bro 🔥🔥
Thanks brother! I appreciate it!!
@@MagnaMachineWorks your welcome 👊👊
Looking to do an exhaust for my car in a home garage never welded before, other than the pipes and Those special clamps what’s the skill level required?
Beginner for sure. You can always use pieces of tape to hold the pieces together and peel it off once its tacked. You can also use a grinder and a zip cut to cut your tubing
👍😎👍
Thank you!!
Those clamps are cool
I love building headers but hate building an exhaust system if that makes any sense
Thanks! I totally recommend them if you do lots of exhaust work. I totally get what you are saying about that! Its the challenge of building headers that I crave! Building just an exhaust is fairly boring and I actually don’t like crawling under and out of the bottom of a car haha
Great explanation! I suppose TIG has better control. But you could finish this out w MIG?
Absolutely you can! I have done a few exhausts with just using the MIG
hate to burst everyones bubble, but there is only 1 horsepower differnce between mandral and regular bends
I would like to see the science of laminar vs turbulent flow and delta P on the flow rate. Not saying that is un-true, but better flow would be more efficient across the RPM range. In this example though, you can get way tighter bends than you can crush bends and the mandrel bends look way better
So much talking...
Thanks for watching. I appreciate the feedback.
