You know what makes it pull better.. It's not the diesel... It only makes ten horse power... The diesel motor is heavier than the normal gas engine for it.. Take the gas powered one... Put some steel to it.. And the weight.. Is equal to front and back... This makes a good puller. Or tagging.....
@@shawnlibby675Its not any heavier than the 400/500. All aluminum, long story short its a gas 500 with a smaller bore and diesel injection system. The torque comes from the lower ratio gear case. This has more reduction than a highlifter model
Thanks. It wasnt so hot when I got it but an ebay seat cover, krylon mettallic gold spray paint, and a mint storage box off an ATP has it functional and sharp looking. When I got it that winch was mounted at the bottom of the chassis with a single bolt on one side and RCA sound wire tied up to the bumper on the other. BTW loving your content, keep it up.
Lovely Machine! I have the Polaris(Barrus) D-Bat with the Yanmar 400cc Air cooled Diesel (1998) - the Military used them - its a beast, would be interesting to compare them side by side and do a few tests to see which preforms better. I think your machine looks a lot better for sure.
Just pick up a polaris 455 and it possibly needs rings. It doesn't look like I'll have much luck finding a replacement. Do you know where I can find a piston?
Diamond pistons out of michigan made me a set. I sold all my extras already. They might be able to get you rings though if you send in your piston. Contact them, they will let you know. Good luck.
@@98dodge360v8 one more question, please. Is the solenoid located under the cover on top of the head supposed to click when you activate the throttle? I'm trying to diagnose a no start problem. Thanks,
@@kevinsullens492 It should. They are notoriously bad soleniods from what I found and most run just run the factory manual shut off. Thats what I did. My soleniod went out last fall. You could feed it a little of the good flammable brake clean while cranking and see if it pops off. If it doesnt dribble some oil down the intake at the head. Just make sure to turn it over with the decompression open first then close it and hit it with brake cleaner. If it still doesnt go its probably toast. If it runs on brake cleaner then look for fuel issues. Have you check the stuck throttle killswitch on the thumb throttle?
@@98dodge360v8 it's probably toast. I bleed the injector and sparyed starting fluid in the intake and can't get it to turn over at all! I remove the governor cover on the head and everything appears to be working correctly.
Nice looking Diesel! Glad its still running good for you, first time i saw your machine..

It would be interesting. If you're in the upper midwest/geeat plains area thats a possibility

@@kevinsullens492 Easy enough to pull the flywheel cover on the right side and try to manually turn it over. Hope it all works out for you.
What would one of these cost to buy 3k?
In this condition and accessories over $4500. Not running or poor $500-1500
If u put a small turbo on it would it hold?
I think maybe 4-5psi is all.
I’d pull that with my 200
Good for you, I did address how little power this has in the video. I have used 400 2 strokes for 4000lbs before.
Might be a decent. We know Polaris didn't make the engine. They don't make anything. The AMC of the motorsports world.
They make the body and the 4 stroke engines
@doctorfeinstone6524 Oh, okay. I guess they just put Fuji & Robyn decals on them for show.
