There seems to be a distribution flaw here cuz when I tuned into Flat's stream and he asked his audience "5v5 or 6v6" alot of them answers 5v5 because it is more role required and less skill required. In Spilo's interview with the overwatch 2 director and game designer, they intended 5v5 to solve 6v6's lack of individual skill expression but the irony is that after the balance changes and after the release of ow 2 people still complained how there is no individual skill expression.
I remember seeing someone say the words "people who enjoyed the classic event are delusional if they believe this is a balanced style of gsneplay." And frankly I just can't take that guy or anyone else who spouts that seriously. 2016 was the goddamn frontier, we knew what we were in for going back. I witnessed roadhogs vape nation and the reinhardt moshpits
Neat video. I have a random suggestion you could try if interested. You can create custom effects like rings to stand in (so you don't always need to use this map and make clearer distinct spaces) and write in world text to guide people, and even make the spaces intractable (like a counter in zones) with the workshop. Just some ideas that could be fun!
Watching symm put uo the tp animation kinda was wild... Why yes!!! Im a (gooner) also i would prefer two tanks since bastin can't setup and theres bo orisa shield.
Wow, this was a really fun experience, I can't even tell you. The group gathered for this was so respectful and insightful at the same time, bringing up a bunch of great points, but also politely trying to let others talk if they didn't get the chance, and that made it such a blast. Admittedly I had been up for almost 2 days at this point, as was trying not to wake up my wife as we are traveling and she was exhausted, so my brain was beyond frazzled. For the mostpart that didn't affect my opinions, but did affect how I spoke on them. As some examples, I mistakenly claimed that I had created an entire video on role q being a mistake when in reality it was just a major point I've made in a couple videos, and at some point I said I was ok with 30 minute q times which isn't entirely true but I do think the question of getting rid of those q times should be dealt with in a way other than removing a tank, which I'd rather revert even if it meant those long q times returned (shout out to Unchanged for making really good arguements about this). Thank you for having me on the show
how much of a giga chad do u have to be to onetrick reaper SINCE 2016, also i agree with the dva on open queue but i can see how some of the cons could be really bad, mainly the 6 dps(or any other role) thing, even tho i believe the global healing passive would probably help. also this is a hot take of mine but i dont think in the 6v6 tests the queues will be as bad as they say. mostly because theres a lot of diversity in the tank role now, even when taking communities like the doomfist one, they aint playing another role, so i think the only thing that could fuck up the 6v6 tests is the balancing. like i believe they said they'll keep the passives?? which is kinda dumb ngl.
Honestly I believe that min one max three would be the mode that works out just because dps players are going to continue to be dps players. There may be an increase in tanks but not enough to balance it for 222. At least with min 1 max 3 you have a chance for 222.
It wasn't even nominated that year for game of the year, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_Awards_2016 Didn't win its own category either, I stand by my statement that OW had a bigger impact on gaming and clearly deserved the award
I understand that Role Queue was this necessary evil (if you will) for a better game but it kinda killed my groove and how I approach thing. I was (bcs i dont play ovw anymore) of person whom, if I see we're missing something, I pick that role, but that is in the moment and based on the teammates I get. Role Queue doesn't allow me to do that, to make decisions pre-game or even mid-game that could be beneficial for myself and the rest of the team. Shti sucks man
If role queue didn't have actual role lock then people would just pick the role with the shortest queue time and still play whatever role they want thus ruining the fundamental team composition and point of balancing for it
@unchanged_gamer670 You're seeing it as a binary of either "Permanent Role Lock" vs "No queue/composition balance systems in Place". There's a bunch of different ways to go about implementing a Role lock that isn't permanent for all players. Could have the lock be a non-permanent thing that only lasts the first minute, before opening up. Could have it always restrict you to 2-2-2, but allows players an option to agree to swapping their role with each other. Could restrict you to only having a two tank maximum. Could be a mix of any of those options, or could be endless other things that I'm too dumb to ever think of on my own, but other people could come up with.
@@randomchiz Well you didn't preface any other concept to begin with just that you didn't agree with a permanent role lock. As far as OW is concerned only "Could have it always restrict you to 2-2-2, but allows players an option to agree to swapping their role with each other" is one I think works but even then it just opens up lobbies to more toxicity like someone throwing if no one will swap with the,, makes balancing ranks for each role harder. Given that there are role lock and non locked modes I don't see why they'd go through the hassle of making the role lock mode different just for it to add more issues
6v6 and 5v5 both have problems and good points to me, BUT I think they should try 1 support and 2 tanks in 5v5. I'm a support player and i think that would be an easier thing do pull off and balance over 1 tank. But maybe i'm very very wrong lmao edit just add: we always had ults canceled out by over powered support abilities... mercy's team rez was on her E, that literally countered everything until it was changed. Then we had brig and her stun which countered alot of ults. So this was always an overwatch thing and its silly to pretend things like suzu countering is new lol
I think the healing capabilities of supports would need to be crazily buffed for that to work and they would have to fundamentally change how the healing of certain characters works because kits that are based around single target healing would make healing 4 people on your own very hard to pull off and every team fight would be who can kill the only support first. I mean high level team fights are already kinda just find the support simulator anyway now imagine the stress of that as the only support in the lobby. This is coming from someone who would technically be called a support main given it's my highest ranked role lol
I play tracer, if that happens , I will not leave the enemy support alone the whole game. And I have had game where enemy tank is screaming in chat no heals because I am continuously distracting/killing the supports. Basically having that much responsibility on one person will be miserable, just like it is for tanks right now. But we will actually get to see this in the kingmaker mode. It will be very interesting seeing one DPS or Support with buff, we already have seen the tank (ow2)
You are wrong the difference between Brig Stun, mass rez, and suzu is if you got stunned out of your ult by Brig you made a terrible positioning error, mass rez was terrible but it was an ultimate whereas suzu is a somewhat long cooldown that you have every single fight and it does not take a mistake on the part of someone using their ult to have it countered by suzu unlike sheild bash and instead of having to land the bash all you have to do is throw suzu at your feet in most situations. Suzu is terrible in its own unique way.
Paladins meta comp is 2 tanks, 1 damage, 1 flank and 1 support so it could definitely work in overwatch provided they make pretty big changes with regard to gameplay systems like an item shop and customization options.

Brother. Is that the Diddy Kong Racing music playing in the video?
Simply amazing.

Idk I was just happy to be there
lol yeah it was fun
literally omg yall were awesome
Agreed, always fun to talk about the game I've put way too much time into lol
@@AyoBodee Buddy you're rage baiting in a yt comment section, I don't think you even comprehend the irony
Just happy to be there IS SUCH A MOOD
The "I picked up OW because fox lady waifu" at the end had me dying

I’ve never seen one of your videos before but holy shit overthink is such a good name
The music is rlly loud and distracting for me
Agreed. It needs to be lower.
on role queue: it's possible to feed a role queue into a no hero limits ladder

I love the music choice for this any1 know what it is ?
If you're asking about the music in the intro, it's from legend of Zelda ocarina of time - gerudo valley
Its very telling that not a single person prefers 5v5😂
