Hold a dumbell grab a 85 lb a 10 lb?? Notice the difference??? Do u think a guy like brock lesnar can hit harder or floyd mayweather?? How hard do u think mike tyson hits??? When u have weight on ya especially muscle and u put everything into your punch your gonna hit really hard.
Yes i agree that sometimes muscle can slow u down to a small degree but if u work on flexibility and speed muscles dont impair your fighting ability at all. Muhammad ali, foreman, mike tyson had lots of muscle had incredible speed and hit really hard!
Muscles and size absolutely matter in a fight! If everything is equal the bigger man has a higher chance to win. Weight classes matter because the heavier guy or woman hits harder and is at an extreme advantage so putting a small vs big guy just isnt a fair fight thats why weight classes exist. And sure the smaller guy wont always lose but he or she is at a disadvantage. So ill say what i said before muscles and size absolutely matter in a fight and when u have good skill and technique it multiplies into each other. If a bodybuilder or strongman takes up martial arts game over for anybody!! Yoi dont believe me?? Look at a guy like brock lesnar?? There have been some guys who've had the body of a bodybuilder who fought in the UFC (including when it meant something to make it there). Obviously Sean Shrek is arguable - but he was there, Gleison Tibau (from what I recall) was huge for his weight. It seems like the guys being referred to are heavyweights - but there were some guys who looked like bodybuilders who were competitive in MMA.
What's the guy from awhile back - Jeff Munson(?). He could fight.
There are at least exceptions - and if the bodybuilders trained, they'd spend less time lifting, but I think some would be good fighters.

let's roughly say that 3 factors win fights:
    1. body
    2. technique
    3. experience
bodybuilders only have the first one. And even for number 1, the way fighters work their bodies and bodybuilders work their bodies are different. BB push and pull, which is slow. Fighters punch and kick, which are fast. They are different muscle groups. There is also speed and endurance.

I keep reading comments regarding power. Have you ever hit a nail with a hammer really hard but the nail just bends? Have you ever seen a bullet ricochet instead of penetrate? Speedxmass is part of power, but trajectory and timing are also. Learning to land your shot as your opponent plants, at an angle where they will resist the force and you have the position to blast through the target is why when Viddal Riley sparred Eddie Hall he could have knocked Eddie out in the first round and Eddie realized. I am only 195 lbs and I am not that strong but there probably arent many body builders that have my power and probably none that have the same knock out power as me due to having zero skill set. Just like body builders can squat more than NBA players but can't dunk, and the few that can couldnt dunk over an NBA defender.

This is all a bunch of bro science except for the part of bodybuilders not knowing how to fight. Most of the "bodybuilders can't fight" takes are just mass compium for skinny fat non lifting guys who don't actually know how to fight either it makes them think their skinny fat untrained ass can match jacked dudes who lift heavy who also don't train for fighting. That being said not everybody has the potential to be an elite fighter; I boxed for 2 years & eventually quit cause I just figured that I was never going pro with all the competition.

Of course a trained fighter will beat up bigger guy who doesnt know how to fight but if the big guy actually knows how to fight and their fighting skill is evenly matched then the smaller guy is in trouble. There is a reason why there are weight classes in combat sports and there are some jacked fighters. Alistar Overeem and Brock Lesnar when they had match over 12 years ago they were absolute monsters. I doubt lower weight classes would stand chance against them. Ngannou is also pretty jacked and even Mike Tyson who is arguably one of the greatest boxers of all time was pretty jacked in his prime.

Bodybuilders just train muscles and being fragile and dont want to movewell because they think everything will kill their gains and lazy because theres a thing in bodybuilding called rest days they dont want to move because one move stress their musvles they think it will reduces gains
But in untrained guy he doesnt care what happens goes in the bar helps his mom lift many weights doesnt care about his ego work job can movewell because he moves whenever he wants
Probably a construction worker too and has better core strength because hes always in a work
