I bought my AT-815b in 1998 and still use it! Longer shotgun mic used for countless recordings! I even record vocal tracks in my living room with it up close - no fridge noise, no ambient noise, no nothing (except I can't record on days when the garbage trucks are outside, but hey). I love my AT-815b!

Thanks. Your comment made me buy an AT-8015 on eBay. I've got my fingers crossed, but am encouraged by your comments.

Why the bp4073 shotgun is for indoor use if the at4053b is better to use indoor actjally. Why confusing advice

    Hello there
I would like to record my son playing in an orchestra, usually in a hall. Would need to work with an iPhone. What would be a good choice, thanks.

what would you recommend for picking up the wedding ceremony with the officiant and the couple? I use a wireless handheld on a stand - very basic. Most DJs use that. I also have an optional Lav mic for upgrade. I know there has to be better options out there. This seems like a nice option - but pretty expensive for me. Some ceremonies are outdoors - some indoors. Any suggestions from the community are appreciated.

I'm a little confused with my AT897 in testing it to say an XLR-to-3.5mm input (ie: in a pinch when I don't use my field recorder). It seems that the results into the camera is the same with or without a AA battery. There's still audio (quiet as to be expected) but seemingly no difference if it has a battery in it or not, and tried several different AA batteries just to make sure the one in the packaging wasn't dead.
Edit: Though I can verify it has an impact with a field recorder (ie: Tascam DR60d Mk2), without the battery and without phantom power, there's no audio at all, with battery and no phantom power there's audio, and vice versa. It's just odd that with or without the battery is the same result via a XLR-to-3.5mm input direct to a camera such as the GH5 (there's audio even without the battery).

Great info. What would you recommend for indoor dialogue on a indie film production? Thanks.

    • @AudioTechnicaUSA

Hi Lance! Selecting microphones for dialog pickup is often determined by the visual shot application. The wider the shot, the further the microphone must be from the sound source and the longer the shotgun is selected to narrow the pickup. Often, when shooting inside, the ceiling height is often needing to be considered. People also use the AT4051b condenser microphone when you have a low ceiling and need to capture dialog. Is overhead the best placement , or would from the side at mouth level be okay as well ? Also with the AT8035 , how much may the speaker move side to side without compromising the sound ? Thanks !

i believe, and hope, you guys have a mic(s) shotgun . . (so ive heard), under $3OO, that will cover a 2nd soprano girl voice or "higher" . . and another a shotgun that will capture an alto/tenor or "lower" female-male voice!

What mic would be good to interview 2 or 3 people together in a noisy street protest situation?

Hi there! The BP4002 is a popular interview microphone. Being a dynamic microphone, the pickup of the excessive street noise will be mitigated. You can learn more here: www.audio-technica.com/en-us/bp4002 Thanks! - A-T USA

@@AudioTechnicaUSA Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I didn't really phrase my question very well. What I meant to ask is what kind of mic would you recommend that could be mounted on a camera for a single person run-and-gun shoot in a street protest scenario? Thanks v much for your time and advice 👍
