I ran 882 heads on my 73 chevy 1/2 ton van.flat top 350.350 turbo trans with a 11 B&M Stall.373 gears. My van kicked ass on the street. Those heads crack if the temp goes over 235 degrees.
That all depends on what you’re looking for and what your building. Originally these where supposed to go in a cast bottom end 357 (40 over 350) with a Erson hydraulic flat tappet .468/.480 lift 222/231 duration with a 110lsa. But we ended up putting aluminum heads on that engine.
@@BoneyardRevivals Mines 30 over , thinking flat tops , maybe plaining? im on a limited budget and all i can get is these 993 close to me i have a new cam that a friend gave me .050 duration is218 in 228 out, 457valve lift on in and i think if i see his scrawls right 479 on exhaust lobe centers 110 118 respectively , should work i hope , thanks so much for sharing your knowledge !!!
It really depends on application and what your wanting to do with. I’ve seen 460-470 hp it dirt motors. With a 450 cam lift rule and a lsa of 106- 240 at 50. By David vizards 128 formula most sbc a 107 lsa is optimal.
Man it's so cool that Joe is teaching you as you go and letting you learn on his machines.
So cool to watch these vids. I love this stuff

Pro Form 66484 is really good stud remover!
Glad im not th only one that dislikes the extra casting. Looks much better
The nuts from old SBC connecting rods hold up a bit better when removing rocker studs
That’s an interesting tip, I’ll have to try that! Thanks.
When get baked pull studs then while it’s hot
Add heat?
How can you tell if you can't resurface your heads anymore on a vortec head?
with the 993 heads on a 350 , what cam you recommend

Thant should run pretty good. That’s close to the cam in the 355 we built for my square body.
