him playing James bond in his 20's would mean he'll be playing James Bond as a rookie and I think that's a twist that I would have loved to see.
Henry was down to the last 2 for Bond BEFORE Stardust? James Bond would have been a baby but also - that means he got there solely on the quality of his auditions cause he had no claim to fame at that point.

HC is pure class. He handles this discussion about his not getting a plumb part like a true gentleman, with total grace and generosity. You can see why he is so liked and respected by his peers and his fans.

Well, as far as I know the same happened to Pierce Brosnan. He auditioned a few years earlier, but was too young .. and the they cast him for the Golden Eye and he was a legend .. so maybe it could happen to Henry also.
Brosnan was too young, but that's not why he lost the role. Brosnan had unofficially been a part of the Bond family for a while since his late first wife played a Bond girl in 1981. Cubby Broccoli, the producer, had his eye on Brosnan, but for years wanted Timothy Dalton who wasn't interested. Brosnan got very popular in the 80s with the TV show Remington Steele, where he was a James Bond type. That led to him getting the role to succeed Roger Moore. Even though the show had already been canceled, his casting as Bond caused a spike in ratings which led to the network renewing it another season. Broccoli was okay with that, but the network became unreasonable when he told them he would need Brosnan to start shooting at a particular time that would conflict with the schedule of the show. So he ended up dropping Brosnan and making another offer to Dalton who finally accepted. It might have been for the best because the two films Dalton did weren't received very well. People were looking at James Bond as an outdated relic at the time. By the time he scored the role again in the '90s, the world had changed, people were looking forward to a new Bond and he was more mature for the role. I'm only sorry his late wife didn't get to see it because she always wanted him to be Bond.
The crazy thing is that the network ended up canceling Remington Steele anyway. Something similar happened to Tom Selleck when he landed the role of Indiana Jones. Spielberg always wanted Harrison Ford, but Lucas didn't want to use him yet again. Selleck got the role but then the pilot for Magnum PI got picked up as a series and he couldn't do it. The rest is history for Ford. As for Selleck, it turned out the writer's strike that year delayed the shooting of Magnum PI which would have made him available to film Raiders of the Lost Ark had they kept him in the role.

With Warhammer and maybe even Highlander, Cavill could not only help develop these films but get a producer credit, establish some sort of control over the direction of his career and may even make more money. It's a better business move on his part. Also when you're cast as Bond, your choices of other projects are limited. Because you've signed that multi-film contract, when they're ready to start shooting another Bond movie, you can't go off and do another film that conflicts with their schedule. They basically have you anytime they want. That's why Chris Evans was iniitially reluctant to sign a long-term mult-ifilm contract with Marvel. Luckily, it worked out for him.

Seriously Cavill being Bond would be the only exciting news about a new Bond movie. They really need a proper return to roots. And Henry already crushed a spy movie before.
Dam! Daniel Craig was a phenomenal bond but Henry would have been too. He’s still tops for me. Amaxing to know that in 06 he could have been Bond! Stardust he should have been the lead!
He has shown everyone, that doesn't matter if he becomes involved in a big project or not, the only important thing is how much fans gonna love the movie or TV show. He sees almost the best way possible to do everything. Whether he is involved in it or not

Despite the fact that they didn't use him that well as Superman, he's managed to do many other projects that have shown us what a great and versatile actor he is. If he had played Bond, he might not have got all those other opportunities. He might have had to turn down many because of his obligations to Bond. Yes, Daniel Craig was successful, but other than "Knives Out 1 &2", can anyone remember what he's been in lately? No one is saying, "Hey, let's go check out the new Daniel Craig film." Whereas Henry is only 40 and despite the fact that they misused him as Superman, he is still a very hot commodity right now. Less than a year after they officially announced he was no longer Superman, look how quickly he bounced back with so many projects either finished or in the works.
I disagree. They still need a well known name. They wont cast noname actor... Also, budget for Bond movie is huge. They can easly afford to pay 10-20 mil per movie. Ofc if Cavill goes out of his mind and asks like 50 mil or some precentage of the income then they wont agree...
I really like Henry since witcher season 1, I liked hes acting as Geralt. But i don't think he would be good James Bond. He just seems too clunky, big and muscular. He can play big, bulky, muscular characters. Mby if he lost some weight I would change my mind, but right know i just don't see him as 007.
@lauris5275 You can disagree, that's fine. I'm not saying this is what they should do. But it's been well documented that this is how the producers, the Broccoli family, work. Now, being that Amazon now has a stake in Bond because they bought MGM and co-own the rights, that all could change. There's been rumors that the Broccoli's have been looking at Aaron Taylor-Johnson. And he is not an A-list actor who would command a large salary with his first outing as Bond. This is how producers and the business works. I know because I've worked in it.
To be fair Henry was and now more than ever suited as Bond. At the time, many disliked Daniel. However, Daniel proved to be one of (if not) the best version of Bond. Id say it turned out fine but Im curious what a Henry Cavill Bond be like.

Since I heard of this I've thought it's weird he wasn't cast. I mean, the whole reason they were casting a new actor in the first place was because they'd decided to do an origin story. So....why pick the late 30s guy over the early 20s one? And it's just as weird that they're not casting him now. I've heard some say it's because he's older than what they're looking for but A. they don't NEED to get a younger actor, and B. they've been looking at actors older than him (like Tom Hardy). It would be perfect, since several other Bonds were cast after not getting it the first time.
Supposed to say action, hero, explosion, like Stallone and Schwarzenegger now we have these guys and I hope they make some really good movies guy Richie is a fucking genius so please keep pumping out the movies guy
So, this Argyle movie is getting the stink eye all over the press with people generally dissing Cavill's ability to pull the spy thing off. The one exception they note was his role in Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise where Cavil actually played the principal villain revealed 2/3 into the plot--quite cleverly, BTW. Some of the harsher critique abut his ability to fit the genre seems a bit off the mark, as he also did a great job as Napoleon Solo in The Man From Uncle.
Really dug the way he entered Check Point Charlie with Roberta Flack singing in the background at the film opening. The dude brought some serious style to the role.

Henry would be a great next bond and I forget the guys name that’s sitting next to him, but he would make a great next bond enemy when Henry has that intense look when he was in mission impossible, and they were fighting in the bathroom. That is one of the epic fight scenesfor anybody that seen it you know what I’m talking about now and when he gets that intense, looking his face actor man I’m telling he’s going places where witnessing the action explosion between him and the guy from reacher. I forget his name, but these guys are fantastic and they act like men you know cause that’s what we need nowadays.

I think Daniel Craig was a good choice for a modern James Bond, but if they where do do a more classic tongue in cheek James Bond I think Cavil would be perfect for it.
Don’t get me wrong he’s undoubtedly perfect for the role but at the same time I like the idea of them getting someone who is unknown for the role. We didn’t know who Daniel Craig was before Casino Royale and I feel like a new bond should also be a completely new talent nobody knows about to make it feel fresh. If Cavill was aactually announced as Bond though I would have zero complaints about it.

I like to see Scott Adkins as the next James bond,Bcoz he is Brit,got nice structure, capable of acting,good martial artist etc.....Can shoot a bond movie with good story plus action sequences like in the movie raid with this man.he is underrated in the movie industry,use him.....
I'll be honest, ever since MI6 i've dreading to see Henry plays a villain again. He is super handsome but could also pull off the menacing look. Type casting Henry as the hero archetype, the goody two shoes protagonist has been overly done.

I disagree with Henry on this one - I think Daniel Craig was one of, if not, THE worst Bond to play the role. And I like Craig in other roles, just not as Bond. It may have been where they wanted to take the franchise, but as a fan, I don't think we needed more "Jason Bourne" in James Bond. Why imitate the imitation?

I'm ready for a more suave and witty Bond. Daniel was great but he was a bit of a meathead. More Americanized than British unfortunately. I really miss the Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan types. And all the fun with gadgets and outsmarting the villain. When you put Bond and Q together it should always be about gadgets, not endless boring dialogue.

@JohnDoe-tm9wz Go check out Man from Uncle. Henry played an American CIA spy during the Cold War. He was cool, charismatic and funny. Everyone has said that Man from Uncle was sorta his audience tape to play Bond. His other characters you might think are "wooden" like Superman and Geralt are actually stoic and embody a sense of lawful good.
