The only thing about this game I can criticize is that the monarchs and knights don't have have horses to ride on when traveling. In real life they would have traveled everywhere on horseback (only peasents and poor people traveled on foot back then).
I agree 100% about building the barracks first. The knights add safety and security to the kingdom. Not to mention that the knights theoretically support the monarch and the monarch's authority through military presence.
The Adventurous trait is a great trait to have for a knight as well as for the monarch. With this trait you can go on adventures, which can get you extra Kingdom Points. ;)
