This is Sandra ,,, I have never seen anyone sew applique like the way you just showed, I haven't done a lot of applique but what I have done is never done following a line,while I needle turned the piece I just told myself to turn it as little so it doesn't fray !
Excellent tutorial! I just watched another video on this subject and was very confused. After watching your video, I understand perfectly how to do this stitch. I love to applique, but am never fully happy with how it looks once I am done using a zigzag stitch. I have four small grandchildren, so I am excited to make them some fun pieces. And, as you said, I find hand work so relaxing😀.

A damp rounded toothpick works better at turning fabric under.
can you please give some more details about where to find the pattern of the quilt you analyse?
