I adore Temple. She is fascinating to listen and watch. My 31 year old son has Autism. He has a fantastic memory and is computer savvy. Very smart and capable but easily frustrated at times. It is a privilege to be his parents.
She is an inspiration! And anyone who tries to make life (and death) more humane and peaceful for living creatures deserves our praise.
Temple Grandin knows nothing of significance of animal rights because she still attempts to justify taking animals' rights and bodies away when there is zero justification. Stop using her as a paragon for brilliant "humane slaughter" ideas...there is no such thing. Grandin has humane-washed, plain and simple, and the compassionate Vegans among us see through it.

I'm an autist. Watching the movie Temple Grandin put me on the path of understanding that. But the tests online, made for children and nit overcompansating adults, never showed a clear result. Two years ago I met a woman, now my wife, who had aspergers in the family. She saw it almost immediately and explained it to me. It's so helpful to have a diagnosis!
The movie Temple Grandin is my favorite movie of all! So much identification, even though nor my handicap nor my brilliance are as big as hers.
My wife's name is Guadalupe. Today, on the 12th if december, we celebrate her name in Mexico where we live. I must mention it. I love Lupita! 🙂

I have asperger n adhd altogether..I can totally relate to everything grands explains.. it really helps me to expose more on my visual ability to see everything in strategic way or more anticipated way to solve problems..
I like how everyone in the audience applauds when Temple mentions "practical problems" and "different minds". Still they are the same people who stick to conventional methods in their businesses and never dare to go against the stream.

It takes a long time to unlearn and break from our mind prisons. Even when we know there's a better way. We also don't know what we don't know.
Inspiring talk, makes a great case for kids who think "differently" perhaps are visual learners. We need to accommodate all students in their learning styles!
She is amazing, i so wish more people in charge of education would listening to her. It's not just children with special needs, it's all children that need to be taught to their ability levels so they can find their true potential in life.
If you haven't watched the movie, stop procrastinating. Its a must watch. Seriously
I cried like a baby today
That’s so obvious I watched it today it’s my new favourite movie
This movie made me cry like a baby because I could relate to her struggle, effort and achievement. I just found I am ADHD and was desperate to find a way to live with it - well Temple gave me the light and emotional hug I needed to move on - Beware of the different minds, different intelligence, be thankful for the neurodiversity that will sabe this planet ❤️

Alair my 17 year old autistic daughter loves this video and like Temple believes farming and animals can help autism. Alair is a Poultry Champion see her story My Best Friend Goldie in her own self published book at create space. Hands on learning and skill building helps these kids suceed. Temple is right on, that we need to teach and allow for different kinds of learning. Go with the gifts and focus on the parts of the brain that do work. Temple is our hero.

I love her outlook, which is to look at what an animal naturally does and for humans to adapt around this. It's such a great way to train animals, and to live with animals. And heck, people too! Setting foks/animals up for success, and not failure. AWESOME!

She came and did a talk at our nearby city and as a kid just entering highschool with aspergers syndrome it was so insightful
I am a visual thinker. I do not have autism but my son does. My father is a great mathematician and computer programmer. Runs in the genes I imagine. I have an architectural design degree also.
It definitely is passed down. My father's side were big on math, music and computer engineering. My mother's side were craftsman, teachers and artists.
Almost all of them are on the spectrum.

My daughter is Autistic and obsessed with animals. She sees things others miss. She’s an animal whisperer for sure.
I just watch the movie, again, learn a lot from it about autistic-genius people, and cattle. Its a really good movie. Claire Danes did a fantastic job at playing this great lady, I was really impressed with her performance.
That movie was amazing. She is a force to be reckoned with. This is the first time I've actually seen her and Claire Danes played her perfectly.
Wow. The woman that played her in the movie sounded just like her. I learned a lot from the film Temple is great.

That's interesting what she said about math. I remember talking with my math professor about struggling with some aspects of differential equation concepts when I struggled less with multivariable calculus. My professor told me it should have been the other way around - that multivariable calculus was more difficult than differential equations.
I have autism. I did surprisingly well in differential equations (all A's). What's that mean in terms of type of thinking for me? I struggled, but did ok, with multivariable calculus (B's & C's).
I assume it means I had a good Differential Equations teacher?

Temple Grandin is so cool, my science teacher got to meet her! I hope I do too one day. Although I don't think any of those four categories she discussed fit for me. I can't photo realize pictures, I'm bad at math but I'm above average at drawing, I'd say I indentify most as a verbal thinker otherwise though.
Actually, she wasn't high functioning at all. If it were not for her mother, teachers and support creating a structured routine for her, she would be like many of the low functioning autistic people walking around today. Someone loved her enough to fill her mind with everything necessary for it to work in the most effective way for her. People who lack social skills are NOT stupid... it is people like you who are lacking. Do you think that calling people stupid is an effective social skill? LOL! Social skills must be taught. The problem with education today is that it is not actually about educating. It is about making money. It casts aside the weak and seeks out good worker drones. It doesn't challenge people to think critically and you are a prime example of that.

The intent was not comparing anyone because of gender/sexuality or even where the individual is in the autistic spectrum, this was strictly a visual response. I happen to be a fan of k.d. lang, she has an amazing voice, when she first came on the scene back in the mid-eighties, k.d. had a cosmic cowgirl look, reminiscent to what Professor Temple Grandin is wearing in this presentation.
Check out k.d. lang performance, as "The Alberta Rose", at the closing ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, very cool.

I thought the portrayal of Temple by Claire Danes was awful. She overacted and made Temple look like an uncontrolled and crazed individual. The movie was good though and I would recommend people learn more about Temple Grandin's work and contribution to the ethical treatment of animals.
I haven't seen the movie yet (literally just learned of its existence, along with this TEDx talk), but fwiw, Temple herself seemed pretty happy with how it turned out?

Trevor Allen what on earth does how she looks have to do with anything. Einstein was no model. 99% of people arent incredibly good looking. When listening to one of today's great thinkers, consider if you'd comment on her looks had she been a man
