Cantorum Uno Plus - Prelude in g BuxWV 163

Dietrich Buxtehude was one of the organists who most influenced J. S. Bach. This prelude consists of several contrasting sections. The contrast is made evident by the musical writing, which must be emphasised by the change of stops. The most frequently used combinations are the ripieno, which consists of principal, octave, superoctave, mixtur and trompete with its variations, and combinations of softer stops such as rohrflote 4'. The variety of stops used by Buxtehude not only emphasises the different sections of the prelude, but also creates a rich and vibrant musical dialogue. This juxtaposition generates an extremely dynamic composition where the listener is continuously surprised and involved.

I found the voicing itself not too synthetic 'cause I have some modest experience with Neo- baroque organs. They sound very sharp and even glass-clear if not "sterile" indeed. This Uno Plus is just voiced the same way, I think. Very sharp, but there are multiple examples of the real organs sounding very sharp. Guys, what are your choice criteria for a reverberation on this film? It doesn't sound like a small modern "Neo-baroque" aula that might have acoustic and might not have any acoustic at all, nor did it sound like an old church (Nicolaïkerk in Utrecht in my example).
Ironically, I found your own Physis Plus demo (Wayne Marshall's rehearsal on Opera 400) sounding just fine...

Why are these recordings always full of reverb?
In my opinion, they become annoying, considering that reverb is one of the weakest points of the Viscount.

The choice of reverb amount is a question of taste, but the reverbs have totally changed in the Physis+ organs. I believe they are much more vibrant and textured

Good performance! And the product looks promising. The video and audio, however, are surprisingly poor, especially the inexplicable distortion and over-the-top reverb. Not a great way to sell a product. And the handheld video is unnecessary, far too shaky.

Twenty years ago, I would have regarded this as an excellent imitation of the voices of an authentic pipe organ. But digital technology has leapt forward so much in that time and many of the voices in this recording sound so thin and synthetic compared with the newer technology. Perhaps the flutes might be excepted, since these are very pleasant.
