Anybody else feel this games graphics hold up pretty well nowadays? This game was incredible, such a shame that is such a small cult classic. I'd be in love with another PC or SLAI game.
@@Caghoule I know this is a bit of a long shot that you would be still interested but hawakening exists, its a private server where you can still play hawken, and there is no cash shop everything is free basically unlocked through playing
still have this game. love it so much. and have for years. it used to work on my 360, but it wont anymore. i need to get an old xbox. i'll buy xbox's just for this game. i also have SLAI which is its ps2 cousin lol.
No sadly they never 'officially' released the songs on a soundtrack. It took me ages to find this one song on CD. It was in the 'XBox The Best' CD, I found it in a game shop by chance so I didn't need to mess about online. JSRF and ofc JSR both released sound tracks on CD. Well worth getting in my opinion. Also Air Gear is worth seeing, plus the sound track too. If you like JSR + JSRF.
I only used maximum light shoulder grenades to smoke out enemies, then I heavy lanced them with my Ventuno. I built her fast and with a short recoverable cloak, made good use of cover. Used arm lasers if I ever needed distance, but I mostly one hit ninja'd everything. Never had to worry about ammo, unless I messed up I could hunt forever, had a few 100,000+ matches.
@toastwalrus Phantom Crash is no longer in development. This was out 2002 on the original X-Box. There was another game called S.L.A.I: Phantom Crash on PS2, I haven't tried it but it may be worth a look. The other mech game I mentioned is HAWKEN which is a promising game by Adhesive Games.
@PrivatePhox I agree, the game is a hidden gem in the old X-Box collection. It still staggers my mind how few people have actually played it. More so with the larger Anime fan base now days. Can always live in hope the world will realise how good a game they missed.
yeah i knew JSRF had an album now after looking at my media library, you sure seem to hve been lucky to have found the cd when you did like that but i will have a look at the ones you suggested thanks =)
@erag0n25 Phantom Crash was the first game between the two. This was made by Genki. Genki then sold the rights to Konami and Genki released S.L.A.I under Konami's label almost 3 years after Phantom Crash.
A little bit of good news for Mecha fans, there's a game being developed by a small group of programmers/devs. It's not Phantom Crash, but it looks pretty sweet from what is shown. You may already know all about it, but for those that don't know, it's called Hawken. The concept is pretty solid and the game play looks intresting and skill based as well. Which could mean it will be a really enjoyable game. Keep up to date on their website. :D
Just as a quick explanations to some that don't this but S.L.E.I is actually a continuation to Phantom Crash. Phantom Crash came out first and then S.L.E.I came out later not sure witch systems its for besides PS2 but I think it might have been released for the Xbox as well I need to look into that.
@MythicMinds I got the song from a Japanese CD called "XBOX The Best". I managed to find it by luck in a game shop I frequent that gets in CDs and that from Japan. You could get the CD if you are intrested from CD Japan. I ordered BECK the animation soundtrack off them before and found them quite good. But again this was my experiance from ordering from the UK. Good luck if you decide to get it. :)
@XxMagnumxRX I didn't download it, the song can be found on a CD collection called "XBOX The Best", it contained a fair few game songs on there. But only one Phantom Crash song, which is why I bought it. You may find it quite cheap if you search for it, I found it by luck in a game store in Glasgow.
@darkguy376 honestly i preferred the Holy body over the others. had several different Mechs all with the Holy body, all with the Wolf CPU, one had dual maxed out lasers, one had dual maxed out pistols (they are actually pretty powerful), the other had the maxed out shotgun and machine gun. i swapped the shoulder weapons around as i needed them.
@MsOdale Mine is playable, but I have the latest updates and the 360 slim. It does have a couple of framerate hiccups, but still doesn't affect the game. I still play it to this day.
Got to agree, the only other game that keeps me playing is the Jet Set Future. I have bought so many copys of both that I'm nearly sure I'm buying my own returns. Shame there's no plans for a new game, would make a killer Online game. With the right game play and direction.
@SilverlonewolfX your tellin me...i bought it on a whim and i have it stashed way, i was lucky enough to find a copy of battle engine aquila too...it's an ok game and interesting in style, now i'm tempted to play phantom crash again....>_> *goes to play*
SPOILER You work your way up to fight the best Rumbler in the area. She announces on the news that she will retire from rumbling after the next challenge and also reveals that she is also the voice behind the Artifical artist known as MONALISA. When you beat her, you realise that her AI was dying and that she fought as a final farewell to her friend and companion.
@MsOdale Its hard to say, due to the different 360's there is no 100% answer. I'm afraid you will need to try it out yourself. If at all possible try to borrow the game if you don't want to pay for it and be unable to play it. But if you can play it, it's well worth the time in my opinion. It's simple but really enjoyable with just the right amount of depth.
@JinD3vil It shouldn't cost much at all if you get it at a local gamestore used. The big problem will be finding it, as there aren't really a whole lot of copies over here in the US, compared to many other games, and those of us who like it hold onto it like Golum with the one ring. >.>
@darkguy376 They all have their pluses, it depends on how you advance up the CPU's and parts. I did find the Photon with a decent cloak and dual Single rocket pods on each arm to be really crazy to play. It hit very hard but wasn't very durable as a result. Perhaps going down the dog/wolf CPU's (higher shield chances), would yeald better results than I had with Birds (Eagle in my case). My favourite build tho was a Holy with rocket launcher on RS, morter on LS, and dual machine guns.
Depends on your Xbox360... it runs fairly smooth (except in cases where it would lag on the original Xbox-- like when you're fighting Yuki, and she starts spamming missiles) on the Xbox360 S-- it also worked alright on the Elite, but had some crazy lag at some times.
I have tried it. It runs fine except that it lags very badly. The controls are delayed by about 1 second, making it very difficult to play or to enjoy. I recommend against using it on Xbox360.
Rest In Peace Yuki, old shinjuku 1st place ranker, you fought well when main player took over 1st place, you will be missed few years to S.L.A.I
I remember S.L.A.I Steel Lancer Arena International good PS2 game,it has all S.V stores to buy units and customize,I don’t play phantom crash before

+CursiveS closest would be HAWKEN really
@@Caghoule too bad Hawken closed down and Konami has the rights to S.L.A.I.

the quality is great here, thank you so much
Personally Mona Lisa is the blueprint for the vocaloids. She is a artificial pop star just like Miku.

Ahhhh the chorus... reminds me of sweet sweet areon destruction!
Aaron? Disgusting peasant. Photon will crush you.
Photon?? You might as well build a robot out of legos!! If you would have said Holy... then maybe... :| I one shot photons...
Holy's decent. Photon speed and looks destroy all, though.
this song also comes from the game S.L.A.I (steel lancer arena international released on ps2) which is similar to this game search slai on google
I always loved this game
Love this game soooooo much

S.L.A.I. just couldn't do it for me, and it makes me sad the 360 can't play this one.
Not even the Xbox one can play it, I've tried and it's saddening. I grew up playing this game.
@JinD3vil
Was referring to HAWKEN. I just haven't seen any news of it. I'm a big fan of phantom crash and slai already.

It just occured to me that this is on the PS2 by the name S.L.A.I. the mechs look the same and the concepts are the same, just different names.
How did it finish? I never did complete this game :(
Loved this game, Until I gave up XBOX For PS3, GAHH! (It also should've came to PS3)

Hawken, Armored Core 5, Steel Battalion, Trenched. The future of Mecha gaming looks fairly safe... for now.
I had the game and my brothers broke it.... This games is amazing im searching for another copy.
@Bureiku81
Best to search on Ebay. This game is as rare as gold. It took me a month to find a good used copy in a Game Stop.
Totally understand that, I think the courts would be lenient as well. :P

Why did both Armored Core and Phantom Crash have to end?

only reason i have an Xbox 1 is for this game. thats how good it is.
where did you download this?

doesn't work in any 360 ive had contact with so I plug in the old original JUST to play this game once ina while
I loved this game... until my father sold it. Argh!
