Knife Making: A Modern EDC Tanto

  • Enjoy this full build for a new tanto design I'm working on. Really liked the grind on this with the deep swedge. It almost gives it a dagger feel. Paired it with some nice shadowboxed redwood lace burl scales. The micarta liners (which were a last-minute add-on), complimented the colors in the wood nicely and pulled everything together. Lastly, I did two sheaths since the first "taco" sheath wasn't snapping into place nicely.
    If you have any tips or tricks for shadowboxing scales or making taco sheaths fit better please let me know in the comments. Would love to know what you think of the complete build as well.

    The bevel jig and file guide are both from TR maker for anyone wondering. Not being paid to showcase it or anything, just a great product and great service.

      Thanks! Usually 30 mins then check it for coverage, hit it with the steel wool and etch it again for 30.

    • @99echo
      @99echo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha that kind of sounds like a backhanded compliment - should it look freehanded? Lol yeah self taught man, only a year and a half in. I have a background in graphic design which I like to think helps me out. You should check out my insta. Some of my favorite work on there that I unfortunately didn't film.

      @@99echo sorry if it sounded rude. It was meant to be praise, i just worded it weird. But the fact yourself taught gives me hope that i can to XD. I guess it gives tonnes of freedom to create whatever knife preference you want. It is always satisfying watching the vids. I will defiantly check your insta, count me as a free follower XD
