    This was a great test. Thank you. I will also try to get the solder you used. So helpful with the links you share 👍🏻

    The real problem with fake Amtech fluxes is possibly dangerous chemicals in flux and lower ability to prevent unwanted solder bridges. The first is not a big deal if workspace have proper ventilation. The second however make QFP, BGA and tiny connector soldering really hard. Discovered that in hard way my myself several times. For larger component soldering and desoldering in general those fake Amtech fluxes works just fine.

    It's strange, I just bought a 559 AMS 30cc from a local store that claims that is the official distributor of Amtech flux here in my country. It seems I received the OG flux (didn't test it yet but colour seems the same), but also there're differences in packaging. Volume quantity is wrote by hand, I didn't received a card and neither the needle, only some kind of plastic needle with pen shape. Also the syringe is already armed and there's no orange cover, obviously. It's like they make the packaging, maybe due they get the flux in big containers (if the flux I bought is legit..).

      There's only ASM model not AMS. Original Amtech flux comes only in syringes like in my video.

    I've been using some cheap liquid flux i got on ebay for $10 for 2 bottles for awhile now.that crap smokes like a train and it always runs away from my iron.
    Picked up some genuine amtech 599 for $19 and omg i can drag solder now.what a frecking difference.it actually stays put aswell.

    I been using 223 fake stuff and I kinda thought it was fake but I didn’t know. Makes sense now. Well I’ll be buying quality stuff now

    • @KrotowX
      @KrotowX ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely you didn't needed to solder really small components. Fried some traces and broke few MicroUSB connectors in past due to inability of fake RMA-223 to prevent solder bridges in short distance. For large traces and components with gaps large enough fake stuff usually works fine. Though it smoke like coal chimney.

    Flux is basically a gel that corrodes top layer of metal. Top layer is usually where the corrosion resides. The gel should solidify in open air to prevent slow corrosion. In my experience, the better quality flux solidifies better. Cheap flux uses some kind of oil base which never solidifies in open air. But both perform just about the same. Make sure you clean the PCB with thinner(kerosene, mineral oil or petrol) if using cheap flux.

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They all produce fumes, including the original Amtech flux. I wouldn't use it without a fume extractor. I use Amtech only for the chips; for the rest of the components, I use natural rosin flux to minimize exposure to harmful chemicals.

    How many degrees do you use it in the soldering gun?

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the components but typically it's 300-35 or 400C for big components like electrolytic capacitors or something like that.

      It doesn't seem like this is a safe method.
      There are a lot of off-the-shelf "RMA-223" from Ebay sellers with high ratings.
      These are the only two on a price comparison site:
      www.ebay.com/itm/221720475929
      www.ebay.com/itm/282421548559
      99.6% and 99.7%
      And look these yellow flux with 99.5%:
      www.ebay.com/itm/162878781101
      Or 99.6%:
      www.ebay.com/itm/332194555961
      Etc..
      This is the first listing (sorted by price) where the paste is not yellow in the photo:
      www.ebay.de/itm/360635476138
      Can't get a bigger amount for a better price?
      Or another product from another manufacturer, which is also very high quality.

      You're right, they all do the same thing, but still, some do it better, some produce more fumes than others, and some are way easier to clean than others, etc.

    • @ElectronicsComputers

      It may or may not smell acorrding to batch from which your flux come. Which depends from are content of your syringe is made by Inventec or Amtech themselwes. This guy have detailed info about differences between original NC-559 flux branches:
